A few months ago I discovered that my next neighbors are quite possibly white supremacists. I'm not entirely sure of what the parent's stance is but their two sons are definitely on some white power trip. To be honest its really disturbing, as a black man the last thing I need is to be living next door to a couple of young and eager to prove themselves superior white males. (By the way I live in Blue Island,IL not far from 123rd and Western)
Anyway I was watching this HBO movie last night called The Beleiver and its about this Jewish kid who grew up to hate his own people and he became a skinhead who hid his Jewish background. So as I'm watching this movie and thinking about my own situation it just really impresses upon just how stupid humans can be. With all of the issues going on in the world why would you want to focus energy on trying to acheive the impossible?
There is no way any one race will exterminate another ethnic group. And furthermore even if one race was able to eliminate all the others what would that solve? There still would be drug addicts, lazy people, rapists, thieves, killers and the list goes on and on. When will people realize that its not the skin color that makes a difference but its the TYPE of individual. In every race, in every nation and ethnic group there will be those individuals who will display undesirable qualities. Also in every ethnic background are people who are intelligent, hardworking and conscious of improving their environment. The latter type of persons are the ones we should all should be striving to emulate and work with. Unfortunately however most racists will never understand this.
Another thought, a while back I was speaking with a muslim about a variety of different things and the conversation turned toward the topic of race. This muslim's particular belief was that the white man was the devil (and he was adamant about this) and that in the future there would be a war in which the black race would be the dominant one.
Its just really sad that individuals can't appreciate the beauty of different cultures and people. They say that variety is the spice of life, I wish some of these racists would realize that this applies to people as well.
