Now, I don't think that's asking too much and in the interests of peace, no matter how much of a dick Arafat was, I think that it's a fair request to grant. Partiuclarly because once Arafat dies he'll be to Palestine what Kennedy is to us- immortal and God-like. Thus it would behoove of Ariel Sharon to pay attention to Palestinian popular sentiment. But then that's like asking Bush to pay attention to peace protesters. So in a display of defiance the Israeli government flat out refused Arafat's burial wishes.

Pretty bad, eh? It gets worse. Back when Arafat's health seemed to be temporarily improving in the Paris hospital the Israeli government began publicly making their own funeral plans for Arafat. To cremate him. For one thing, Islamic edict demands that the body be buried- BURIED- within 24 hours. This is an islut to Arafat and highly disresepctful. This is not so much for his own sake, I am far more concerned about the perception in the eyes of the Palestinian people who see Arafat in such high regard and might not take too kindly to his funerary rites being in contravention with both his wishes and Islamic law.

So congratulations Likud Party of Israel, you've succeeded in turning what promised to be an already turbulent period into a flaming sack of crap.

My god, Israel is again blamed here.

I just heard that an Israeli-Arab member of the Israeli parliament just started to cry in there, because of Arafat's death. and I think to myself - where are all those who say Israel is not a true democracy?

You know what? even the US - the greatest democracy on earth - wouldn't allow such a thing to happen...

All that Israel gets in return for maintaining a true democracy is people who call it racist and apartheid.

Some of the poor brainwashed and misled minority in middle eastern contries do not have all of the information. YOU DO.

Even if all the information YOU have, it does not make it right that you celebrate/wish death upon ANY human being. And with all the information YOU have, you should know that I have said the CURRENT US action in Iraq is a terrorist action. Period. I have defined terrorism, and have stated how our invasion is nothing short of a terrorist action.

So you are not better than any misinformed/brainwashed/illiterate soul if you choose to lower yourself to the standard of celebrating/wishing death on ANYONE.

And also, thank yourself for having a superiority complex and thinking you are the enlightened and the Middle Easterners are all in the dark ages.

There are some notable exceptions to that IMO:

Stalin
Pol Pot
Castro
Mao
Kim Jong Il
Ishii Shiro
large chunks of the Nazi party and Imperial Japanese Army General Staff
etc......

Based on what guidelines? Stalin, Castro, Mao, Kim Jong are held in very high regards by the people of their respective countries, infact, revered.

Sure, they contributed so much to the world through their progressive communist policies and were willing to liquidate anything/anyone in their way. Would you not grant that many of those same people, being raised and educated in a closed system, might have a slightly skewed/incomplete view of history?

I am sure Kim Jong is still revered by his people. Avoiding the forced labor death camps is everyone's first priority there, so it is understandable.

Look at how depraved his mind is now. He cannot comprehend that people can be innocent, regardless of another's opinion of them. To him anyone that is not a Muslim is deserving of death. To him a baby that was just born is just as like as being guilty as a known terrorist that has killed 1000 people.

Yes, it's clear that his logic is that of a brainwashed sheep.

For your stupid post regarding the above, here's something for just Kim Jong:

, South Korea's outgoing President Kim Dae-jung jettisoned decades of South Korean tradition by describing Kim Jong-il as "a pragmatic leader with good judgment and knowledge," a sentiment that has been echoed by other foreign officials including Madeleine Albright.

from: Link

Yes, Madeleine Albright spent a lot of time in forced labor death camps in North Korea.

I think most of the people proclaiming how they wish arafat dies really doesn't know much about him. There is a lot to dislike, but he isn't an Saddam Hussein or a Bin Laden by any measure.

Lets hope that things improve post-Arafat, but it is ignorant to label Arafat as a terrorist and trample on his grave.

One of these websites is US Committe for Human Rights in North Korea. The other aims to
GlobalSecurity.org aims to shift American conventional military forces towards new capabilities aligned with the post-Cold War security environment, and to reduce the worldwide incidence of deadly conflict. The organization is working to improve the capabilities of the American intelligence community to respond to new and emerging threats, reducing the need to resort to the use of force, while enhancing the effectiveness of military forces when needed. GlobalSecurity.org also supports new initiatives utilizing space technology to enhance international peace and security

Without emphasizing the bias of these websites, it is fair to say that neither represents the voice of North Koreans themselves. PBS carried a documentary which I suggest you should see regarding the North Korean's view of the so-called dictator -> Documentary link

I dont support North Korea. Why should I? And I dont fear it. I dont think its part of the Axis of Evil. Its making Nuclear Weapons. So what? We have them. Other countries have them. They never attacked us. Why should I give my tax dollars to maintain military presence against them?

I think you are a scared little puppy who is just afraid that the entire world is out to get you

The accounts of former prisioners have been generally regarded as accurate by basically everyone except the government of North Korea. Why are so many North Korean's trying to escape across the border to China?

What does the documentary you linked to have to do with the discussion? Nothing, that's what.

Because Jong is throwing a party he is automatically a swell dude? Hitler liked dogs, so he has to be ok.

Those of you whining about the value of life and how we should all respect him are naive. Thousands of people die every day and as long as I don't know them, I don't care, and neither do you. It's part of what we all agreed to when we were born.

Generally regarded as accurate by whom? We have Guantanamo Bay and we're trying to tell OTHERS about forced detentions? North Koreans are trying to go into China because of the famine that has stricken the nation and the effects of which have been compounded by the sanctions. The documentary highlights these issues as well. Watch the documentary before you comment on it. It is just a suggestion. Rest is up to you.
