Just be aware that, for the Norton, there are 2 rebates and that one is an upgrade rebate requiring proof of purchase of another product.

The Nero also has one of the rebates that is an upgrade rebate and you'll have to read the form to see what they require to get it. The $50 Nero rebate says it is NOT valid with the upgrade rebate 47904. Right now, both rebate links go to the same form so I don't know if the upgrade rebate they mention on the product page is 47904.

Still good deals.

Pertaining to Nero, both rebate links open the same rebate (the $50 one). The $20 competitive upgrade rebate is nowhere to be found. Furthermore, the $50 rebate states that it cannot be used with a certain competitive upgrade rebate. Whether or not the unusable one is the one offered I don't know, but it seems sketchy.

Yes I noticed that. I went to CompUSA and saw Nero 6 had a $20 USD Upgrade rebate. However, I won't qualify for that.

I will add AR next time onwards...

I believe, NORTON Deal is pretty nice. Ghost is an absolute must for DIY enthusiasts. Internet security just needs screenprints, which I have.

Symantec gets in my record book for the fastest rebates. I submitted my rebates by mail for Norton System Works 2005 Premier on April 26 and received both checks in the mail today ($50 + $30). Woot!

once again OUTHOUSE has a scam. one of the rebates is for an upgrade.
What is the scam with clearly disclosing that one of the rebates is an upgrade rebate?
Rebate Info

$30.00 Competitive Upgrade Rebate valid from 2005-05-18 to 2005-12-31
And why would Outpost be the scammer because SYMANTEC is offering an upgrade rebate?

Qualifying products are retail and OEM (e.g. pre-loaded) versions of any Norton or Symantec software product, or retail (boxed or download) versions of any McAfee, Trend Micro, or Zone Labs product.

I looked around and it appears that the $20 rebate may be invalid for this deal??? As Booradley pointed out the $50 rebate cannot be used with competive rebate offer 47904 which is the $20 rebate. Unless Frys/Outpost has a different rebate, then this looks to be Nero 6.3 UE for 69.99 - 50.00 MIR.

Here is the official verbiage from Nero about this rebate. Link.

Here is the linkto the $20 competitve upgrade rebate.

The upgrade rebate is only for previous owners of retail version of Nero, Roxio, Ulead, etc. so those with OEM versions are out of luck.

I can't look a the $20 upgrade rebate, bot links @ outpost goto the $50 rebate.

I have nero 5 which came with my ASUS cdrw drive, know if this can be used for the upgrade rebate? Anyone had luck w/ upgrading from OEM versions?

NO. The competitve rebate will unfortunatly not work with OEM version. You can view the PDF for the $20 rebate above and read the mumbo jumbo.
