Apps on a dual boot system

I am planning on setting up a dual boot system with W2K and W98SE. Is it necessary to install an application under each OS I want to be able to run it? Since these are both MS based OS's, is it possible to install, say MS Access or a game ONCE on an "Apps" partition that is visible to both OS's and run it from both OS's?

There are some I install in 98 and just run from 2000 anyway, like eudora. Sometimes I have to throw a .dll into my 2000 folders, but sometimes they just run.

And if it's something like Office, I'll install it in 98 and then I'll just install it in 2000 but to the same directory.

But that was when I actually used 98 🙂
