So google has a PM job they just opened in Provo. Where I happen to live. So I am going to apply. I have some background in projects and I worked in a conference center for 10 years. Anyway, anything I should do or write on my resume to stand out?

Hi,

I interviewed with Google for a few internships. I can tell you that your resume should definitely stand out because they are looking for people who stand out. So, you should try to make sure your resume is very attractive. Don't hold back on putting important things on your resume because you don't think they are as important. Everything is important, its just how you present it. They also want to know what kinds of things you like, what do you like to do in your spare time? Talk about that. Be open about things because they want well rounded people.

The interview process is pretty cool depending on what stage you are at. The very first interview is more like a conversation about your interests and how Google can change your life, etc. Just make sure you actually know something about the company because they WILL ask you.

The second interview was a lot more technical. I am not sure what exactly it is you do...but basically, know how to talk about that and explain things. etc.

I hope this helps! Even though I didn't get through to all the interview stages, it was a great experience because Google is basically at the top of the food chain when it comes to tech companies. They will grill you in the interviews and you will be better for it. Even if they turn you down, they will still communicate with you and network with you. They want you to try and come back. Take their suggestions whatever the outcome!

I am still in close contact with the people I connected with there. My journey took me to another top company but the experience was still worth it!

be prepared for many/long interviews. do a lot of interviewing at other companies beforehand to get comfortable with it, especially if you haven't interviewed in a while. You'll probably have between 5-8 hour long interviews across 1 or 2 days.

Well, yeah, you'll need to be able to take it long and hard. Definitely that.

But first step is not to ask about it on the interwebs. The second step is NOT TO ASK ABOUT IT ON THE INTERWEBS!!!!

If someone says "stop" or goes limp, taps out the interview is over.

Only two guys to an interview.

One interview at a time.

No shirts, no shoes.

Interviews will go on as long as they have to.

Given that the first two steps were ignored, the rest of the steps are actually irrelevant.

In case anyone hasn't suggested it yet, you should really PM pcslookout. Last I heard, it appeared he had some success going the Google employment route. :)

Was it too hard to read 4 of the 5 posts above yours to find out that yes in fact it had already been mentioned?
