As a special agent. Not really expecting anything, another rejection can't hurt. Their website and application only wants people who are Computer Science, speak a middle eastern language and bunch of other things. I am a CS major and I speak a Middle Eastern language. So I applied. The whole application took 35 mins. Was really fun to fill out though. Lets see what happens.

Since you speak a middle-eastern language, my guess is you're a shoe-in (if your background check clears).

I speak German, but the FBI doesn't need that...maybe if I spoke French... ;)

From my conversation with a FBI recruiter on campus, which language you're fluent in isn't really a huge deal, as long as you can speak, read, and write it well. Obviously, with the current situation, Middle Eastern languages might take preferences to other languages.

Also, you didn't mention if you have any work experience in Computer Science. Apparently they love engineers, etc., but they require a few years of work experience, or a graduate degree. I'd break out the recruiting flyers I got for more detail, but my roommate's asleep and I don't feel like turning on the lights to dig through my drawers.. :\

A person I know is applying for the FBI too. He said you should be serious about applying cause if you get rejected it counts as if you got fired from a job. Those are his words. I have no idea if thats really true or not. * shurgs *

Very surprised you are allowed to tell people that. From the docs I read before, CIA and FBI and probably other types of agents are not supposed to be telling the world they are agents. Hope your profile isn't correct. With some searching, you can be the next addition to a terrorist's list.

Hush. FBI special agents are allowed to tell people who they work for. Most just don't, just as most cops don't tell people they are cops.

A friend here has applied and is about to get offered a position. The main concern is location. He stated if you apply this X location, you're likely to stay there. It's a destination a lot of other employees from other locations get assigned to anyway.

He urged me to apply, as he said the chances are good right now... but I will not do so considering the freedom I have at my current job. I don't want to take it for granted, but at the same time, I do not want to subject myself to a gov't job with stricter regulations... and I'd have to wear a suit everyday. I noticed the pay doesn't go too high up either...

On the other hand, being a field agent sure beats a desk job...

What kind of documents do you read? Certain agents cant, like the undercover type...field agents usually will have to in order to ID themselves to the people they interview.

FBI field agents have a ton more paperwork than most realize. You will also be on call 24/7, and if they tell you to go someplace, you WILL go.

Also the code of J. Edgar really hasn't died yet. Above all never embarass the agency. Ever.
