Application popup: iexplore.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x02cf31a3" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".

That is the exact errors I've seen poping up lately. Mainly its only when I close a program. Happening most with iexplore.exe, somtimes outlook express... somtimes w/ other randoms programs. I was trying to think back...and it seems to have started after SP2 install. I've reset mem timings to SPD which are actually the same as what they were set at previously. Bumped mem voltage up to 2.7v I figured its a memory issue so d/l memtest86 for a couple passes, no problems (i know i need to run it longer...), also ran a mem tester i found on microshafts site...no errors.

i've run prime95, mainly to stress test cpu, and no issues stating its not really the cpu. but who knows

i'm thinking do a xp reinstall..but really not wanting to. anyone have any clue what i can do for troubleshooting? was thinking mb try to reinstall sp1 even...if it even allows that?

anyway, just wanting to throw this out, see if anyone had comments..ideas..something to try. throw away this MS trash?? <nods n agrees>..but can't.

you say you have reinstalled windows...did you actually format the drive or did you just reinstall over the top of the old copy??

on second thoughts you didn't actually reinstall windows did you?? you just took of SP2 and put it back on....waste of time......how long is it since you did a reinstall anyway..... just do it....you probably have so much crap on there that it will be hard to find the problem!

hehe yeah exactly where i'm at. i figured reinstalling sp was a waste..but tried anyway. =p volume created feb / 04 so past due for a reinstall anyway, i know. it just annoys me that my win2k pro install lasted a year and a 1/2 w/ no issues, then i decide, oh lets try some of the l8est and greatest, and it lasts not even half that. hehe still <3 for 2k pro, best os i've used from ms yet... but lacking support soon, so not really going back. anway, yeah...probably solve problem by remove partition, and have fun gettinig everything back up n running. :)
