apples shipping blows exceptionally hard

well, ordered one of those newly updated mac book pros (15.4 inch with the LED screen, 2.4ghz c2d, 8600gt, 5400rpm 160gig hd) on the day they were announced.

paid up in full over the phone

then it took them a full 3 days to process the order and im being quoted as a further 12 days just to ship it to me.

its coming from shanghai to the UK.... 12 freaking days. they got a chinese man running it to me in one of those wheel barrow taxi things or something?

i could go on holiday to austrailia for a week and come back before this gets delivered. dont apple realise that today we are all impatient mofo's

When I ordered my mini 2 years ago, it arrived in 2 days from Shenzen. I imagine there's a lot of demand for the new MBP so most of the delay is probably waiting your turn in the queue.

well thats it, it was kicked out the factory door on the 8th.................. i know it'll be stuck on a palette with lots of other orders, but if theres plenty of them there shouldnt be too much of a hold up waiting to fill cargo boxes

I gave up on Apple after our MBP order debacle. 6 years ago when I bought a Powerbook it was shipped overnight from Taiwan. Apple has really fallen apart in the shipping/support world.

Or maybe we have just gotten terribly impatient in our society. :Q Dell is the same way if not worse. There are times when Dell puts shippdates 2 moths out after you order and pay!

well you can expect that with dell, i mean come on you can get a computer from them for like £300.

this is a premium product (although some design choices suggest otherwise) and you pay premium prices for it. wheres the premium service to back it up?

Actually if anything I would expect the premium product to take longer to make and setup right compared to the bargain stuff thrown out the door.

the last mac mini that I ordered took a long time because it was stuck at customs in china for over a week. I was really frustrated, but can't say that it was apple's fault

I think it took a while because it's a new model. I ordered a macbook and ipod on thursday of last week. Received the macbook on friday, and ipod on sat. It's a good thing I didn't fork over extra for faster shipping.

When I've ordered I used MacMall. They're located in the US and have timely shipping for pretty much the same price, maybe a little cheaper.

I have ordered thousands of PCs, notebooks, and servers from Dell and non of them have taken longer than 10 days to deliver...

servers closer to 10 days, PCs and notebooks closer to 3-5 days....

Damn, I usually get stuff from them direct and it takes maybe a day or two at the most. My biggest complaint is that they won't leave it at my door.

I feel your pain.

My new Dell Latitude D630 won't ship for another week or so.

Considering the price I paid  I can wait.

My Ubuntu loaded Dell finally shipped yesterday after after a few weeks of waiting. Amazingly they attempted delivery today. But of course since DHL sucks, they completely ignored the note I left at the door instructing them to leave it at our apartment rental office who has a signed release from me giving them permission to sign for our packages, and instead left a "sorry we missed you" notice.
