Who has time for intuitive, elegant design when there is so much clicking to do? Thanks to a smooth top shell with touch-sensitive technology beneath, Mighty Mouse allows you to right click without a right button. Capacitive sensors under Mighty Mouse?s seamless top shell detect where your fingers are and predict your clicking intentions, so you don?t need two buttons

so this mouse will just start randomally clicking everywhere because i rest my fingers on the front of the mouse, yea that sounds sweet

Yeah, me too. Not cool.

Just to clear things up, the buttons still click just like the regular Apple Mouse. It is NOT touch sensitive, and it will NOT randomly click when you rest your fingers on it. You still have to press down on the mouse and you still feel the "click". The only difference is that there is no separate left/right button. Instead, the sensor feels which side you pressed down on when you clicked.

Mighty Mouse allows you to right click without a right button.

it supports Windows 2000 and Windows XP, too.

yeah, the oval design is a nice for lefties and righties.
2 button:finally
Scroll Ball: It's called 3D Scroll Whell(the ones that pivot left/right and roll up/down do the same thing)
also, clicking the wheel down does the same thing. are you too lazy to click once?!
Squeeze: cant imagine what that's for but side buttons have been around for generations(of mice anyway)

What i'd like for that price is not a novelty touch sensor and a ball, but maybe a better sensor like the one used on a mx518. But then, Apple dosent actaully give a damn about gamers which explains my dislike of the mouse...

Nice idea, but is too expensive in the crowded mouse market. I would rather have a MX518 or a Razer Diamondback.
I love how apple touts the most mundane as breakthroughs though.

of course, I cant judge since sensor specs arent listed but im willing to bet they're just a normal run of the mill 400dpi sensor.

oh yeah, this is a TP first this morning, then around noon and then now.

Didn't IBM also make a mouse that incorporated it in the middle?
Yep, our IBM Aptiva with the Pentium 233 had a mouse with a nub on it. It wasn't that good. However, I love the nub on my IBM T42 laptop. 🙂

bahaha🙂

Like the Apple Pro Mouse, the upper shell depresses when you press on it in various places with your finger(s), and the clicking noise is an actual, real clicking noise that is not any different from the clicking noise I'm getting right now with the Microsoft Intellimouse on my Windows XP box. At first, I was absolutely convinced that none of the sounds coming from the mouse were fake, but after receiving some user comments and performing a more thorough investigation, I have found that to be only partially true. The scroll ball has a subtle clicking sound as you roll it, which sounds extremely natural while using the mouse, but if you test it without the mouse being plugged in, you find that the sound is in fact not coming from the mouse's movements itself. Additionally, there is a very faint click (which was difficult to hear in a relatively quiet office environment) associated with the side squeeze buttons that also does not exist when the mouse is unplugged. The initial uproar over the idea of the speaker and synthetic sounds had us all convinced that there would be loud, horrible, and campy mouse sounds being emitted from our mice, but that was absolutely not the case. Frankly, I was almost a little disappointed that I would not be able to make fun of those "features!" http://arstechnica.com/reviews/hardware/mightymouse.ars/2
