Those new powerbooks look so seksy. My Co-worker(total pro-apple) always says: If you buy a PowerBook, you're not buyin' it cuz of performance, it's a lifestyle product.

I want a badass powerbook for digital audio recording. I've seen several tapers using them at shows recently; they are great for that.

Are they not? Apples and oranges are frigging expensive, especially during winter :(. Of course, that doesn't justify the pricetag of these other Apples.

The 15-inch iMac now costs $1,299 and includes an 800 MHz G4; a larger hard drive; and a combo drive that allows users to read and write CDs and watch DVD movies, according to the Cupertino, California-based company.

A good deal but still overpriced for what you can get in a PC.

If they would slash the price on the new PowerBook 12" to $1,499 then I would seriously consider buying one.

12" is too small a screen for me. Even my old p2 300 laptop has a 13.3"..and I think ITS too small. Of course I'm used to a 19" LCD, so maybe I'm spoiled... but 12" screens are definitely too small.

I agree, 12" is small 14.1 is probably perfect for me but in terms of PORTABILITY nothinig beats a 12.

LOL

Just checked the PowerBook's specs, these new PB's are using USB 1.1, w00t!

You know that a two-button mouse works on a Mac, right? And the scroll wheel works too.

If that is the reason you aren't buying a Mac, that is pretty weak.

You may want to check out the new PB with the 17" widescreen...that's a heck of a screen for a laptop. Also, the new PB's have USB 1.1 b/c they use Firewire 800 (twice as fast as the old FireWire) for fast external connections.

It's a one year warranty w/ 90 days of phone support. And they'll gladly sell you an extended warranty.
