What do you all think of Apple's death grip on MP3 players and their consumers?

I've noticed a trend recently of the uninformed and lesser IQ people, connected with the boom of iPod nano sales over the holidays. Not to say everyone who has an iPod is uninformed or has a lesser IQ, but everyone I have seen fits the bill.

This has led me to extreme measures, such as wanting to stab everyone I see wearing white earbuds. Stab and see them DIAF.

How does everyone else feel?

EDIT: I apologize if my opinion seems unreasonable or offends, I have somewhat of a superiority complex and am working to overcome this. (Not saying I am superior, just saying I think I am)
 
I feel like that people should buy/use what they want to, and other people should not get their panties in a wad over it. Of course, this is just my opinion...
 
Ipods are just the best mp3 players around...you might hate Apple, but it's hard to argue otherwise. I for one would never use a Mac, but I love my Ipod to death.
 
Umm... I feel like your opinion is unreasonable and irrational. Not everyone who has an iPod is an idiot. More importantly, they must be doing something right if they've managed to get Joe Q. Public to think that the iPod is the only mp3 player game in town.
 
I think you should inquire into purchasing a life, because if you had one you wouldn't give a crap about things like what MP3 players other people are using.

I don't care what other people listen to. I like my Zen Touch, so I have no need to be pissed off at iPod owners.
 
it works for people who have no idea how to use a computer better than anything else does.

apple has great marketing and great looking products. plus they got commercials on tv all the time reminding us to buy the ipod
 
I don't take much pride in having an iPod... though mine is a (huge) 2nd gen 20 gigger, which I've had for 3 years. I also use some Sennheiser MX400's (which are black) instead of white.

The battery indicator is no longer accurate (though the battery is still fairly strong). Anyway, it still does get the job done quite well. iPods in general are still the smallest and most hassle-free of the mp3 players. Ideally my next mp3 player won't be an iPod--a couple things about the iPod bother me, and I'd like to see some of the features I want better implemented. But if I find the iPod is still the best mp3 player for me, then I'll go for it without regret.
