Bah... whatever. What'll they think of next? A monitor that's also a fishtank? A laptop that is also a waffle maker?

Focus on the technology first, aesthetics second.

And obviously, if you build it, they won't necessarily come...

I think Apple has actually shown guts in their ingeniuty lately. Moreso than the pc market has....have you noticed that all the IBM-compat PC manufacturers are just stepping in line with apple and making their cases stylish and such. Apple has set a trend, others are merely followers....so before you bitch, think.

I want a laptop that looks like a makeup case!! Oh wait.. they already have them.

I bet, just a hunch, that almost all of the pretty cubes were sold in San Francisco.

warcleric - this is about the cube, not the other fruity offerings they have in the market place. A case that cracks within a short period of time is a BAD idea and one that they should have tested thoroughly before marketing the cube.

kassy: and? the point is, they are willing to take chances, as they always have been, Jobs has never lost his rebel spirit and I like that about him. I am not a mac guy, but at least he is still representative of what us geeks used to be. All you 20 and under people dont have a clue, because being a geek has been clique since you have been old enough to do anything.

why do people always think PC industry is following apple?

The NEC Z1 and the IBM netvista lines have amazing design and their aesthetics are better than those fruity color iSh|ts

The point is this - a crappy design that cracks is not a chance, its a f*ck up, a flaw. The fruity colors that they use on the IMacs is a chance they took that paid off.
I am far from 20 and under and I do have a clue, I had one when I started tapping away at the keyboard of my Vic 20, long before it was 'cool'.

the case never cracked, the cracks that one guy complained about were just lines in the plastic casing, not actual cracks.

I read a couple of articles yesterday where they mentioned actual cracks, it didnt say how extensive those cracks were, but either way I would be pissed.

kassy: well, link us to the articles. I did a quick scan of ebay and out of 50 or so cubes listed none listed anything about having cracks. not very scientific, but you would think at least one would have a crack if they are anywhere as near as prevalent as you would have us believe.

Pyro: cant find an NEC Z1 but the netvista is just an old ugly IBM case in black instead of beige...what is so great about that? Unless you are tlaking about the small LCD thing....then I would have to point you to a Sun Ray, which pre-dates any of these IBM-compat slimline computers.

Why do I alwyas do this to myself....I haven't owned an Apple Product since my Apple IIc I am not a fan of Apple, I just hate people who blindly follow one particular genre just because.
