How come reporters never ask the obvious questions?
-What was the parent drinking?
-Was it an Applebee's sippy cup or did the parents bring it or was it just a small cup with lid and straw?
-Who filled it, parents at the table or the employees?
-What became of the sippy cup full of booze? Did they save it?
-Why did the parents say "margarita mix" instead of "alcohol" to the reporter? How did they know it was "margarita mix"?
-Does Applesbee's margarita mix already have alcohol in it?
-Does Applesbees margarita mix even come close in color to that of apple juice, and would it be obvious from the outside of the sippy cup?
-(to doctor) how much does the sippy cup hold, how much was consumed by the baby, how much was left in the cup and how much does it take for a child that size to blow a 0.1?
-how long would it take to cause the reaction the mother claims?
The first job of any legit journalist with a story like this is to ask the necessary question and assess the plausibility of the sources allegations. Anything less is irresponsibility.
