Props to whomever designed the poster though. The grammar comes pretty close to making it appear official. It's rather rare that I see that in hoaxes.
 
The only part they messed up on was the microwaving time should go DOWN with increased wattage, not up.
True, but those that fall for this poster are unlikely to pay any mind to the fine print, even if it stated "this is a hoax" on the bottom.
 
Don't feel bad for the kid. They learned a valuable lesson.

Assuming it was even real. There are plenty of people out there that dislike Apple to the point where they would get a used iPhone and put it in the microwave just to pretend like they are an actual Apple user that believed in wave and tried it.

I think the odds of someone blowing $600+ for the lulz is less likely than some idiot kid actually tried it and fucked up their phone.

Guess what I didn't have when I was 11. Anything worth anywhere near $600. 😛

And I could tell when something on the internet was fake, so I had that going for me.
