I know this isn't going to be the end of it, but I wonder what short term repercussions will this have.

Dismissed WITH prejudice, excellent. Apple needs their asses kicked on every single case. That is how you deal with a company acting in bad faith.

Apple will appeal their cases until some judge or another really nails them hard. Simply dismissing their suits means nothing if they just appeal or file a new suit in a different district or country.

Dismissed with prejudice means they can't refile it.

My understanding is that that applies to Wisconsin . . . this was a state level court? They can refile in another state or at a federal court.

Edit - Reread the article, it was a federal court in Wisconsin. Excellent.
