It's not directly related to Apple products but what's the general consensus of where this company is going? I've seen an article claiming the possibility of $1000/share while most target prices have it leveling off around $160 where it is now. The iPhone and OSX seem like the biggest variables as to how this company proceeds.

I don't think $1000/share is possible anytime soon, if at all. There'd be a split before it reaches that high.

over the past 2 years AAPL has reached nearly $200/share, I doubt it'll get that high in this climate.

That said, knowing the product cycles, I purchased some stock at about $132/share and now its ~$160 (post iPhone 3Gs & earnings report). I'm may sell it soon for an easy 20% profit, depending on how this iTablet rumor mill pans out in the next week or so.

Their earnings this quarter were outstanding, I don't really see it as a terrible buy for a long term hold.

Apple is great for incredibly short term stuff (their stock almost always dips just after an announcement) or long term.

One of the simpler short term plays is to buy the stock the week before earnings are announced, and sell the day after they post their earnings, I've done it the last 2 quarters.

That being said, I suspect they're pretty good as a long term bet, I suspect they'll get to around 180 short term and when above 200 they'll split.

Jobs can sell snow to Eskimos, and charge 20-30% more than anyone else.

For coming trends, I think they're going to push iPods in the international markets, and focus on the iPhone & notebooks here at home. iPods/iTouches are dipping in US sales #, largely because I suspect of iPhone sales, why do you need an iTouch or Nano if you have an iPhone?

I bought in December for between $85 and $92, and sold all last week at about $159. I think the pre-tax annual ROR is about 140%. As hot as AAPL is, I need to have the mindset of buying low/selling high, versus buy and hold. With buy and hold, there really isn't an exit strategy involved.
