It should be noted that the M1 chip in these three Macs is the same (aside from GPU core number). Basically, Apple is taking the same approach which these chips as they do the iPhones and iPads. Just one SKU (excluding the X variants), which is the same across all iDevices (aside from maybe slight clock speed differences occasionally).

So it's basically a rename of cores, the standard P core is now super core and E core is now perf core. Or are the Perf cores something else than rebranded E cores?
 
Finally starts with 512 GB. I wonder what that means for the A series MacBook.


6K is now gone! Only 5K now, even for the XDR. Weird.

This brings together two third-generation 3-nanometer dies with high bandwidth and low latency using advanced packaging. The two dies include a powerful new CPU, scalable GPU, Media Engine, unified memory controller, Neural Engine, and Thunderbolt 5 capabilities.

Nyo.
Perf cores are the equivalent of Oryon-M or Cortex-A. They're midcores basically.
Super cores are just a rebrand besides them having normal caches now (1M private L2 + shared L3).
 
So even the iPhone 17e has 256 GB base storage.

So I doubt the low cost Macbook will have a 128 GB option.

They should bump up the Macbook Air's base to 512 GB, and the Macbook Pro to 1 TB.

M4 MBA 256 GB was $999, and 512 GB was $1199.

Yeah. They increased base storage for MacBook Pro variants as well.

Well, that new cache setup is big news, if true.

It'll be interesting to see how they split up the chiplets. M5 Pro and M5 Max have the same CPU cores, but different memory channels. I assume they want to use the same CPU chiplet for both SKUs. Are the memory controllers on the GPU chiplet?
