that sounds like a pretty big fuck up. sounds like there is a reasonable workaround though to fix the issue.

interesting that with all the apple hate on this forum, the threads based around apple topics always seem to have the most replies.

Apple, get your shit together. This type of stuff is basic, basic functionality which should never be as massively borked as this.

This is just more evidence for what I've said before: Although I prefer iOS and Mac OS X for overall ergonomics and ease of use, Apple's beta testing often just isn't up to par.

My friend just upgraded his iPhone 6 before I had sent him a warning not to. His phone is borked now. No cellular at all. Like really, did they even test this?

At this rate, AAPL is going to become a penny stock:

Haha! AAPL is up 53% this year. I didn't plan on them making $100ps until Nov. It's Sept and $101.

Best thing I've always loved about Apple... its rabid fans fuel my portfolio.

This is pretty uncharacteristic for Apple, let alone any large software company. I'm curious how something like that would get through a QA process. I imagine someone is going to clean out their desk and be escorted out of the building over this. Good thing Jobs isn't still around or they'd probably be thrown out. From the fifth floor!

The good news: there's a (relatively) easy fix if you're near a computer.

If you restore your phone in iTunes, it'll bring back cellular service and Touch ID. I actually did that while somehow keeping iOS 8.0.1, and if you do it now, it'll revert to iOS 8.0. Of course, be sure to have an iTunes or iCloud backup before you do that, because you're going to lose your data when wiping the phone clean.

I don't plan on updating until probably 8.0.3 or later. I like to sit back and watch the crap fly before diving in.

Definitely glad I didn't bother with the pre-order and am waiting til mid-October to get one to play around with.

As much as I dispise and hate iTunes, it's situation like this that makes it invaluable.

Thankfully (albeit somewhat annoyingly at times) it won't let me download over cellular network, or I'd have been on it. No wifi at works means wait till home.

Kind of wish you could override the 'wifi only download' part for larger updates, WP allows it and with unlimited I just don't care.

its all down hill since steve died. seriouly the iphone6 is hideous. the iphone 4 is a classic phone. nice and hefty feel to it. the iphone 5 and 6 feels like toys.

Apple is a lot like Microsoft in that regard. Always skip the even numbered model years. In other words, stick to the "S" versions.

This isn't a hardware issue. It's a software issue.

As for Microsoft, I think they do better in terms of their OS beta testing. I just hate the design.

It still stands true.

iOS8 is off to a terrible start. Not good if they are having to patch the patches. Never ending problems if history repeats.

Might as well just wait for iOS9

Each major release of iOS has gotten buggier & buggier. On my iPhone 5S with iOS 8 I'm getting things like double text messages, pictures not saving to my Camera Roll (I shot a few awesome pictures in the moment & they never showed up as recorded...absolute crap), etc. Of course, that also makes me dumb for giving into the upgrade itch so early in the iOS 8 release game

iOS 7 did not play well with iPad Air when it was released. They had a serious issue with Safari crashing. Took a few updates to get that straight.
