Apple protection plan versus Circuit City protection plan

Was thinking of going directly to apple to buy my future ipod, to save on the sales tax and get the educational discount. However, i am weary of their $50 protection plan. Is it as good as the extended warranty that my local Circuit City offers?

So i take it the ipod has a 90 day warranty and the apple protection plan extends this to 2 years? Any "exceptions" to this that i should know about?

I'd go with Apple, but I don't have personal experience with them...

retail store extended warranties are going to require more 'overhead' as it adds another middleman to the warranty process

more ways for things to get mixed up, plus overhead for shipping time etc...
