Apple Powerbook

I went to Noble and Barnes bookstore during lunch break and I noticed almost everyone carry silver colored powerbook for wireless/etc. I asked myself why it is so popular than Dell lappy?
I did not want to ask people so I ask you guys instead...🙂
Is it better than other laptop beside Dell?
 
It's probably more along the lines of "people who frequent bookstores during lunch are more likely to be Mac users". They're reasonable, if underpowered, machines for non-power use, especially at the top end.

If looks and usability are paramount, Apple laptops are top-notch. If you care about (either CPU or extreme battery) power, you're really out of luck with current Apple mobile offerings.

they have it cuz they know nothing about computer yet you see all these celebs have it and shows it on TV.
 
Every freaking DVD I rent ends up with somone opening a MAC in the middle of the scene and starts typing like he is Linus Torvald of the MAC world LOL
WTF I hate this $hitty commercialism based world that we live in.

Right. For that matter, everyone at the Starbucks seems to be using HP-Compaq notebooks. Not a Dell or Sony among them, go figure. No PowerBooks either.

Plenty of people get along fine with G4 systems...they seriously suck for gaming, but the OS holds up well under a load. For general business or internet apps, they're just dandy, and they're okay for graphics work due to heavy optimization.

I might try Starbucks cuz I have Compaq but I don't like coffee. I have seen some guys at the train/subway use IBM thinkpad and Dell.

Haha the trick here is to build a noname barebone lappy, and BARGE in to the Starbucks, I ll bet you they will be so shocked that the looks on their face will be worth the lappy cost 😉

They are just good computers. The hardware is very nice and for the lower models very competitively priced. If you ever used one you'll see a number of features come in very handy.

Software-wise, if you don't need Windoze apps the OS easier to learn if you have no computer experience, easier to configure and more stable (fewer junk third-party drivers crashing the system, apps not allowed to mess too close to the hardware).

For people like me, while Macs don't make as good Unix computers as Linux or FreeBSD boxes they are certainly miles ahead of Windoze, with ssh and gcc in a Posix package readily available.
 
They are really well made computers. I have not heard of anywhere near the problems people have with dells, have with powerbooks. Apples may be abit expensive, but their hardware is pretty solid. That and I love OS X so much more than XP.

They do suck for gaming though. But for business apps, internet stuff it works fine. They are even good for graphics work. My powerbook 12" hands photoshop, illustrator and indesgin all superbly.

Plus they just look nice. Say what you will about apple, but they have really good industrial design.
