So now that Apple clearly has the coolest laptop out there, how long do we have to wait for the PC equivalent? I mean it seems pretty conceivable that a lot of other companies are scrambling to match Apple's new product, so does anyone know any details? Like which companies, specs, etc? I realize this question isn't really likely to dig up anything cool, but surely someone out there knows/works with someone who is banging out a new laptop.

I know I'm considering using MacOS just to have that new Powerbook...it's just that awesome.

The IBM ThinkPad X is a 1" thick titanium cased LapTop...

Not sure exactly what cool features the PowerBook has though....

The japanese Sony, NEC, Sanyo, ect... models are about on par with it, they just need the slot load DVD.

Maybe you should get a Sony Vaio laptop. Didn't Steve Jobs say that Apple was trying to make their notebooks like the Vaio at this recent Mac conference?

Never liked sonyPC, see more than enough returns on them, I'd try the IBM t series. Vaio's even though slim, aren't the sturdiest things in the world, seen many come back with damages. The IBM looks like its built like a tank, which is one thing i like to look for.
