Apple OS 9.1 login problems....??

We have recently aquired an Apple computer with OS9.1 on it. There is a user already set up on the machine and a "new user". Under the new user we cannot do anything with the system hardly. The user that is already setup on it is the admin and he left our facility. Does anyone know how to wipe out the system and get rid of his login and just start from scratch on Apple OS 9.1??

could reinstall it I suppose. I am more at ease using OS X than 9.1, but in OS X you can change the administration account with the installation cdrom, maybe you can do the same with the OS 9...

If you have an OS9 CD, put the CD in the drive and reboot while holding down the C key. That will boot you to the CD and from there, you can use the drive (disk) utilities to initialize (format) the HDD and then re-install OS9.

You will need to get the OS9.1 update from Apple.com.

you can go ahead and reinstall the OS and all applications. or you can bypass the user login screen.

Two ways to do it:
1. Hold down shift when the computer starts to disable extensions. go to your apple menu, then control panels, and then extensions manager.

2. Hold down space bar when the computer starts will give you the extensions manager before anything loads.

Once you get to the extensions manager using either step, remove all of the Multiple user extensions.
Reboot if you did step 1, continue with startup if you did step 2. You have now just avoided all security on MacOS9.

98% sure this should work 🙂
