Aww.. boo! I use that all the time in Photoshop. I guess I'll have to remap that key now.

I rediscover that key every few months- I don't think I've ever once used it.

Having to log out to switch GPU's doesn't seem that bad to me- you'd leave it on the 9600 when you were plugged in at home, anyway. I'd only use the 9400 when I was headed out to take notes/email/type/whatever- I certainly don't play games or anything when I'm not plugged in. Who uses Motion at the coffee shop?

Don't do PhotoShop, but I too use the little enter key all the time. I will be particularly upset when I have to upgrade my macbook and will no longer have it. Bearxor may hate on the lack of matte, others may hate the lack of firewire, my complaint is about the lack of hte little enter key! But that was has been missing for a while.

We all have our show-stoppers ;).

I would probably leave mine on the 9600GT all the time. If I ever bought one, anyways. Which I won't. Its hard to resist sometimes though.

I hope the new Macbook can run Diablo 3 when it comes out. Do you guys believe so? I don't want to build a crappy computer just to play that game. I guess I'll hold onto my current Macbook until it comes out.

Yea.. I find that it's best to wait until the games are released before buying hardware for them. I'm sure there will probably be another refresh before Diablo III comes out, but that's because I'm expecting it not to come until Fall '09.

I'm really curious to see performance comparisons on the new Macbooks.

56 screws for the keyboard!

more importantly, didn't realize the 32bit chipset... maxed out at 4GB =(

Yeah hopefully the next update will give us more upgrade capability...the new 17" Dell can take up to 16 gigs of RAM. I'd even settle for 8 gigs...that plus a 500gb HDD would be awesome for portable video editing! :D

The more I think about it, the more I'm not happy. Apple is KILLING me.

I HAVE the two grand. I'm not complaining about price. But slower? Smaller battery? Heavier? And for what? A keyboard that I doubt is an upgrade over the one I know and love now?

I guess I'll wait for i7. Ugh.

What laptop do you have now ScooterMaster? I have heard that although the design of the MBP keyboard is different from years past, the feel is about the same with regard to springiness and the like. Also, I am led to understand that the screen is very very nice.

Looks like worse-than-plastic Wifi reception and terrible viewing angles. Also, the screen on the 15" is better than on the 13". Poor contrast & viewing angles, bad blacks. Rev2 ftw!
Meh, lackluster reviews by Gizmodo & Ars. Kudos for the head to head dual review though.

Apple should lend AT a unit for a good review. :)

at the same time, it looks a hell of a lot better w/o the glare. I'm usually in control of my lighting, so I'm torn. Well, that and the starting price is still $2000, w/ the edu discount being cut from before.

Yea.. I would agree that if you're working outside, this definitely isn't going to work. There apparently are matte covers that you can get that are removable, and reduce the glare a lot. Heard about it from Alex Lindsey on MacBreakWeekly.

I saw a picture of one over on Macrumors. It looks really great, but will need to be something I see in person and examine the image quality of.

The XPS 1330 is a fine machine, but the build quality on the new MacBook/Pros is just out of the stratosphere compared to most everything else. That alone would account for (in my opinion) most price differences. I can only imagine how long one of the new unibody macs would last under normal-rough use, especially given how long mine has held up thus far.
