Just wondering if I can get free apps and if jail breaking is worth it and are there any pitfalls and do they outweigh the benefits ect. Plus what are the good apps if any because all I really seem to use and the real reason for my getting the ipod 4G was for a decent and cheap video camera and the rest seems like fluff to me. ( PC 4 LIFE 🙂

The iTunes store has plenty of free apps, what other "free apps" might you be looking for?

The one thing besides that fact that I dislike Apples business philosophy's and marketing tactics is all the payed content that they try and push but it is what it is I suppose. Imovie for $6 they must be crazy for it is a kitschy simple little program and a cash cow for the yuppies that work at Apple. I wish Android had a competitive product because closed source and proprietary suck and you cant get more locked down than on any Apple device LOL.

Ah, if you want to discuss using a jailbreak to yarrr matey paid iTunes content then this is the wrong forum.

Have you looked for any legal alternatives to hosting the jolly roger and strapping on a parrot, like other movie program apps?

If you dislike Apple so much, why did you give them so much of your money by purchasing one of their devices?

Also, do you realize that they make very little money from selling music, movies, and apps, and it's largely the developers and content industries that set the prices? Pirating apps is going to hurt the developers more than it ever would hurt Apple.

Hackulous was designed to allow people to try paid apps before buying because they didn't approve of Apple's policy of not allowing trials. However people see this is an opportunity to pirate apps and never pay for them. Those in the jailbreaking community condone that behavior.

Um just for the video capturing abilities which are not bad at all in the proper lighting conditions the ipod 4 is worth the price of admission IMHO and the rest of the abilities that come with the ipod are the "gravy". Apple needs to take note of what other Linux kernals are accomplishing with the mandate of "Open source" and Freeware ideals. I payed $157 out the door for an 8GB ipod touch 4G and the software should be for free to enable the full functionality of the device I legitimately payed for IMHO.

I condone the philosophy wholeheartedly that Linux has fostered over the years that "Free & Opensource" is the way to go and the way of the future.

That might be the single worst argument for pirating I've ever read.

I have a Windows PC so I should get Photoshop, Office, SAS and Vegas Pro for free, right?

you're entitled to your opinion but you're clearly wrong.

As others have already said, Anandtech forums does not condone piracy. Jailbreaking is fine to discuss since it has legitimate uses, but please do not discuss pirating apps.
