Apple Mini-DVI to DVI Adapter Question

Linky

someone uploaded that image on amazon.com's store listing of apples' mini dvi to dvi adapter...looks like it is dvi-d only! 🙂

it also looks like your dvi cable needs to be dvi-d only, not dvi-i. i wonder why apple didnt just settle for dvi-i in the first place...

edit: crappy linking skills

DVI-I is a superset of DVI-A and DVI-D; if has has a DVI-D cable, it will work in either a D or I port.

As for why Apple didn't use a DVI-I port, I'm assuming because it wouldn't be of much use. DVI-I is only useful for when you have a DVI->VGA adapter to go with it, so you may as well just have a Mini-DVI->VGA adapter instead (and pay Apple's high prices, too! 😀).

Well all I will say is go to Monoprice and get a Mini dvi-HDMI and a HDMI to DVI-D (single link) it'll run you about $16. They have lifetime guarantees on there products and cheap as hell ^^. Where I got my Mini-display port to DVI-I (dual) $12. Much, much cheaper than apple store or other vendors still I think.
