Irrespective of Windows 7, this commercial is typical for Apple: trying to make Microsoft look bad, without mentioning a word about their own products.

Of course cus there's not many positives at all to owning an Apple product.

THe only positives you'll get for owning an Apple is a higher chance of getting a positive on an AIDS test.

LOL, that's just wrong, funny, but wrong

Until OSX, all versions of MacOS were bad.

When OSX came out just like any other major OS release, it was bad as well. People also forget that XP's release was bug ridden as well. If there is going to be a significant change in an OS from it's previous version, there is going to be a lot of bugs and incompatibility. OSX was horrible when it came out, Vista was horrible when it came out, XP had tons of problems when it came out. I've been using Vista for a year and it's great and since OSX has been around for so long and the hardware is under control, there's no reason for it to ever crash and sad if it ever does since it's "just so awesome" as all these people say even though it does crash.

Yeah, but MacOS used to be really, REALLY bad.

Even 10 sucked balls when it was released (highly unstable and lots of incompatibilities - sound familiar?). It took them four service packs to get things smooth with Tiger, but it is still an inferior product.
Didn't they basically say "too bad, so sad" to their customers when they went to x86?

Pretty much.

They talked about how there would be "universal binaries" to allow people still using PowerPC Macs to run current software, and made 10.5 (Leopard) PPC-compatible, but the next OS release dropped PPC users entirely.

And despite being PPC-compatible, Leopard sucks on pretty much every non-Intel Mac. I think Apple stopped trying to make their software bearably fast on PPCs sometime around 2005, when they realized how much faster everything would be with x86. Now owners of quad G5s purchased three or four years ago (supposedly well within their useful life according to Mac fans) can't even play full screen video without dropping frames. And god help you if you owned a G4. What a piece of shit that CPU was.

I would give you the point on the G4, but having owned a dual 2.0 G5 until this year, the machine was plenty fast for just about everything. Even hulu HD would play w/o issue on full screen. The only difference I found going from the G5 to quad core Q6600 were bootup and compile times. Also I had the G5 from ~2006, which is probably the longest I've ever held onto a desktop.

Apple did pull a fast one on developers though - none of the iphone/xcode stuff is supported by PPC, which is the main reason i went to x86.

When I was going to college I was seriously thinking about buying a Mac. As I was making my final decision, these ads started airing. Wow. I've never done an about-face on a product like that before. I think they are smug, condescending, and often completely nonsensical. For instance, why does Apple consistently confuse the fact that Microsoft makes software, not hardware? Or that, while Mac might rank highest in customer satisfaction, they should be comparing themselves to Dell, Lenovo, etc.

Fuck these ads are stupid.

Just shows media/marketing momentum. Vista got a bad rap in my opinion, it was actually a pretty decent OS once the drivers caught up with it. And 7 is being overhyped. Ya it's good, and I like it, but its not an earth shattering improvement over an up to date Vista install.

I've been running Vista Ultimate for years. I think the only issue I ever had was a scanner that wouldn't work. No crashes, lockups etc. I'll probably keep it until I switch to 64 bit so I can upgrade my memory. Maybe in a year or two.

My current case is a very thin case with a unique design. It's taller and all the components sit in line so it can be thinner and takes up less desk space underneath. It also has really, really good air flow utilizing higher cfm fans and a beautiful finish. The cdrom is actually side mounted because nothing mounts on the front. I can get some pics from home and post them when I get there.

I also bought one of the original lian-li's back when nobody was making aluminum cases. It was an amazing case, all rounded edges, all thumb screws, etc. Very light. I should have kept using it actually.

Hah. At least Apple only charges $29 for a service pack.
As opposed to free from Microsoft?
Windows 7 isnt free, its basically a vista SP
So we won't see a Vista SP3 is what you're saying?
He's a Mac user, don't even bother trying to use logic.

I have Leopard installed on a 1.33GHz G4 with 1.25GB of RAM. The cooling system is completely borked so I can't run more than one thing at a time, but everything else on the system is fine, and Leopard runs great (the heatsink cannot be properly attached after one of the previous owners decided to poke around inside). However, the 1GHz G4 with .75GB of RAM that used to be my backup system ran Leopard just fine, as do all the little features of it, and on that system I could do more than one thing at a time.

The only thing I do not and would not do on either system is flash video. My MacBook with a 1.83GHz Core Duo would spin up both cores to full and sometimes lockup when doing flash video in OS X.

All of that said, I like Windows 7, just not as much as OS X. There are certain aspects of OS X, little things really, that I absolutely love and do not have in Windows. Plus the general look and feel of the OS. As I said, Windows 7 is the best version of Windows that I have ever used, and takes those things that I liked about Vista, and improved them. They (Microsoft) also fixed a lot of things that have been missing from Windows for quite some time and makes my life easier when I am in there. But you know what? Doesn't matter, if I run OS X, what the hell do you care? If you run Windows 7, what the hell do I care?
