considering you can get the shuffle for $99 now(cheaper I'm sure if you look around) why would you want to spend another $50 for just the screen? all that tells you is what song is playing. I would just spend the $99 for the shuffle, cheaper, gets the job done, enough said.

Gonna have to disagree. Try finding a particular song on the shuffle, it sucks. I have a 512mb and the wife uses it now because she just honestly likes to shuffle the songs. But, my new 30gig makes it a lot easier to find a particular song.

...and this is why the two have been made!

I could see where this would be a problem, but to me (this being my opinion) not being able to see what song it is does not worrent the extra $50, I would just need to listen to it for a little while and see what song it is, this to some people would be annoying, but that all depends on preference I guess.

Bought the wife one of these today. Last year she got the Shuffle, but quickly realized that she missed having a screen.

Seriously if Apple started including a built in FM tuner (which didn't suck) I'd turn into the anti-Gurck and buy an iPod Nano. I love iTunes. All they need to do is include a freakin' FM tuner and I'd $#@! my boxers.

My wife and I each bought a Creative MuVo 512MB's for $49.99 @ Fry's B&M AR, I'd like to see Apple beat that!

Why not get the Mobiblu cube 1GB player? It's $20 cheaper than the nano, smaller, and has an FM tuner built in.

Bleh, I'm not impressed. Where are the new features? The only new Apple achievement here was to piss off a bunch of folks who just paid $99 for a 512MB Shuffle last year.

Have they fixed the problem of screen getting scratched easily on these?

LOL they are going backwards. Where are the 8 and 16 gb models? You know a 16g one would really be tempting.

Anything less than 10-12 gb is too darn small.

My 60GB is just about full.

Because its a fvcken cube. The nano will sit in my pocket without pressing into my thigh.

With legit music? Or videos? Otherwise I have no idea how anyone could fill one of those with mp3s. I'm eventually going to get another ipod down the road once the low power chips come out and rip all of my cds in wav just because I can. :p

I'm a professional entertainer. A lot of it is practice stuff for shows and warmups, etc. All music is legit. I also have a good ear and cannot stand compressed music so the stuff is lossless. Someone has let me have some mp3's that were made with a "secret" hardware encoder that sound remarkable but these are not public domain. Either way, yes the program material is definitely legit. :)

Ahh. If you're an entertainer or a DJ I could definitely see how the ipod could get full. I also can see how it would probably be a pretty big asset from what used to be a suitcase full of tapes or cds, heh. You're using .wav for your stuff then? Or can the ipod play another lossless format (I don't think so but I may be mistaken). Sounds like a fun gig :)

Bingo. While the Mobiblu may be smaller dimension wise, it is by no means "smaller" in a more comfortable way than the Nano.

Great idea, but it would kill Apple's profit margins. Us technical types would stop spending $200 on the 2 GB Nanos, buy the $150 1GB Nano instead, and then upgrade it later. SD memory is cheap now, and folks would just add one of those $40 1 GB SD cards from someone OTHER than Apple if they needed more space.

Besides, when you can get a 8 GB SD card for $50 three years from now, where is the motivation to upgrade to a bigger iPod?

Wave (uncompressed PCM) and slapple lossless. ;)

Who actually listens to FM radio anymore? Maybe radio is better in other places, but its just ass in my city.. they play britney spears, then elton john, then ricky martin, then the beatles... They honestly play about 35minutes worth of commercials every hour. We have one radio company that controls 3 of our 4 professional stations.. its ****** terrible. Boycott rawlco radio..

oh wait, I have allofmp3.com + 30gig ipod video + XM radio.. fvckem.
