I have seen the Apple displays with apple computers and they look beautiful. Will the displays look as good on PCs even though they are not using the ADC connector?

New apple displays use DVI just like any other LCD, so they work fine. And, ACD just provided power and some other options, it wasn't better than DVI in terms of image quality. :) That being said, the displays look good, but you can often find cheaper ones that use the exact same panel (like the Apple 20" and Dell 2005fpw use the same panel)

what size are you talking?

they should look as good as long as your still using dvi. the 30" need a dual link dvi card tho.

They should

All the ADC connector is a DVI + Power + Firewire?

However, I was under the impression that the "new" panels didn't use ADC, but had a single cord that split at the end into the three componets.

Side Note:
However, as many will point out, the Apple screens are usually not better than their almost identical competition.

For example, the Apple 20" Widescreen and Dell 2005FW use the same IPS panel which results in very similar color/response time/contrast properties. Dell has included different backlighting and different connections. The Dell 2005FW has both DVI, VGA, and S-Video inputs while the Apple only has DVI. The Dell also comes with a host of special features. Anandtech did a direct comparison of these two monitors...

The Apple 23" Widescreen and the HP L2335 use the same IPS panel. Again similar color/response time/contrast properties. Again, the HP has a better stand, more OSD features, and more connections (DVI, VGA, Componet)

The 7800 will support the monitor (all the way up to the 30" ACD).

As far as quality is concerned, Dell has a better 20" and 24" monitor, but the 30" ACD really doesn't have much competition. If you want the best without draining your wallet, the 30" ACD is a good choice (it's still pricey, however).

Second to that, the 2405FPW is a very worthy 2nd.

will it be as snappy playing games a good 20" CRT display? I have an older LCD monitor (4 years) and I was not impressed at all.

I bought a Dell 2005 and it went back. Monitor was manufactured October 2005, Revision 2A and the backlight problem still exists. I can't speak for 24" model but have 5 LCD panels and the quality of Dell's wasn't anything special with the worst backlight leakage of them all. Bought the new Gateway 21" widescreen panel and I sent the Dell back.

Chances are you were suffering from a lower refresh rate, which absoutely would affect the appearance of games, and even the desktop (but not nearly to the degree as you would in games).

all apple displays work for pc's its DVI.
If you were to get a 20-23in you would be wasting your money when you can just get a 2005fpw or a 2405fpw. if you want the 30in say bye to gaming because that monitors res is way to high cs 1.6 would probably be a challenge :)
