OSX is not derived from Linux or Unix, it is Unix.

Nextstep predates Linux by a few years at least, and is not based upon nor derived from it.

I meant unix. Typing on my tab is a pita. Damn touchscreens.

thinking about this, it'll be "unfair business practices" and the courts will slap apple with an Anti-Trust lawsuit.

Oh well... who wants Apple to be the end all be all? (Though for some, it already is...)

Exactly. Governments worldwide would curb monopolies (for good reason of course) so Apple buying the entire smartphone industry is unlikely.

Why would they want to buy it even if they could? If they're already capable of doing well, they'd just believe themselves capable of taking over the market without having to buy the competition.
