Apple copied, again.

AOpen is showing off a Pentium M-based small form factor looks identical to the Mac Mini, the AOpen system has a slot-loading optical drive, DVI and S-Video outputs, and Ethernet, audio, USB, and Firewire ports. There's no word on pricing, but the system will apparently be available in the third quarter of the year.

Wouldn't be that Aopen copied apple?! despite being anti apple...

That particular model doesn't look too inspiring; but I do hope the idea of using Pentium/Celeron Ms in small desktops takes off. Such things would stomp on the VIA cores that are pretty much the only option at the moment for very small form factor PCs, and probably be reasonably cheap if the ruthless forces of mass production and/or Dell deals were allowed to kick in.

id much rather have that than the mac mini to be fair......

It's twice the height of the Mac Mini, a bit wider, and a bit deeper.

Wouldn't say it's a copy. Besides, while Apple did have that Clear lexan cube a few or more years back, their MAC Mini rides on the coat tails of success within the Inte Based SFF space.

Hey don't let your hatred block you from recognizing everything starts at apple even if they really do suck and sell overpriced crap. Reason it's overpriced is Apple has to pay for industrial design and innovation for the PC world too🙂

Heh!! 🙂

I used to work for Apple under contract... I'm a fan, trust me. -But I still work within the industry, with a view out over the whole industry, and I think my statement is accurate.
