What really gets me is why people have to go out of their way to spend their time bashing Macs. Would we all be that much better off with NO hardware alternatives to x86? FireWire was a bad thing? Never having a driver issue? Being restricted to choosing from only the newest, top of the line graphics cards? Gigabit networking on all the high end machines standard?
I don't get it. Maybe because, barring the massive power outage and updating my OS, I haven't been forced to reboot my Quicksilver in one year now. BTW, that's when I bought it. Same thing with my Mac OS X Server. Well, until that massive powerouttage fried the mobo and hard drive, which Apple replaced for me, free of charge within 4 days.
Maybe its because I work on a campus that has more Macs than PCs, yet, according to our support numbers, we get literally about 14 PC's back for repairs for every 1 Apple. No joke. No mixing up numbers. That's a legit ratio.
I mean, I have my Athlon XP 1700+ with DDR and M$ XP Pro (didnt pay for it of course) sitting next to my Apples. It has its uses. I'll want to cross platform check something I've worked on. Its nice for downloading mp3s. Its a nice machine, but I'd take Mac OS X anyday over anything M$ can come up with.
Am I an avid Mac user? Yes. Am I dillusional? No. I like the OS. I trust it. I don't have apps constantly telling me to contact M$ in it. What's so wrong about that? OS X is a great thing. In the last few months alone, 7 people that I know have jumped platforms due to seeing its use in my room and office everyday. I know that doesn't sound like much, but to invest in a whole new computer as a college student doesn't happen everyday, no matter what the cost.
