Apple capable gpu

Curious as to which gpus can run both OSX10 and XP, ie dual booting without changing drivers. Or can I boot on separate drivers for specific os? Like certain version of 91.10 in OSX and 93.21 in XP?

Well, the gpus that Apple currently uses are
Intel GMA 950
Intel X3100
nVidia 7300gt
nVidia 8600m gt
nVidia 8800
ATi x1600
ATi 2400
ATi 2600

Tyranicus just built himself a hackintosh, and he has an 8800GTX that is running right out of the box.

Or are you asking for the purpose of adding additional cards to an existing Mac Pro?

Dude, you handled the card yourself and saw my NewEgg wishlist before I bought it. I didn't buy a GTX, I got the GTS. 😛

Anyway, that card isn't natively supported by OS X. I used the Kalyway 10.5.1 installer which includes NVinject (3rd party OS X nVidia drivers)

As to specific drivers, I see no reason why you couldn't use different versions in different operating systems. The driver is how the OS interacts with the hardware, it isn't on the actual card.

any 8xxx nvidia will work fine, the 6xxx and 7xx nvidia series work fine too, but they are old and slow at this point, i picked up a cheap 8600gt and it works perfect in osx and windows too ofcourse

if you're going to use it in the mac pro you're looking for in fs/t you have to get the apple version. as far as driver revisions, it doesn't matter. both drivers run separately of each other. the os x driver will be whatever apple provides, the windows driver can be whatever is offered by the manufacturer.

when you dual boot with os x/windows you are booting a complete os, just like you would on any windows laptop/desktop. the only difference is that you have to use apple specific hardware, because they use efi (which pcs should really catch up to one of these days).

So any 8800gt like I was thinking is going to work fine or are there certain brands I should stay away from because they dont support mac? Also, the 3870 doesnt work with mac either does it? Sadly with the price cuts, its looking very tentative :|

It will be a mac pro but I will be dual booting.

Then you will have to get a card that supports the mac. Ignore the hackintosh lists, stick with ones that will work in Mac Pros.
