No that's not right. The widget still responds for me. Always does.

As for facebook, there are alternatives like friendcaster. They have a different frontend but they still access your same facebook account and do the same thing.

As for flipboard, I have it on my GS3 but I don't really like it. I prefer Google Currents where I choose what I want to view instead of some random headline called "Science" or "Technology" If I want to read goizmodo or droid life or abc news then that's what I put there. I can avoid the extra crap that doesn't have anything of interest to me like forbes.
Its right, just because you dont have the problem doesnt mean millions of others dont.

You must not know how to use lfipboard. You can add Gizmodo or Engadget as their own source. Google Currents is ages behind. I have it on my touchpad and SGS2. Trust me, Flipboard aggregates articles MUCH better. The fact that Google Currents takes like 2 hrs to update everything is ridiculous. The only benefit is offline reading.

And somehow Google Currents has like special articles or something. It seems to have very few articles and it's not like a twitter reader like Flipboard. As a result, it seems I only get a few articles here and there from sources. It behaves more like a magazine you leave on your toilet rather than a newspaper with up to date breaking news that Flipboard brings.

LOL and I've used it on everything from a Gingerbread Thunderbolt, to an ICS GS2 and GS3 and GNexus, to a rooted and custom romed and themed GNexus, to an AOKP GNexus, to a rooted and hacked hybrid note2 firmware GS3, to a hacked up ICS build for a thunderbolt, and a TF700 running both ICS and JB and currently running a modified JB build. All work the same...

Twitter sucks ass anyway...why would I want anything close to it? I know how to use the damn thing, but I absolutely hate the layout. I want to pick what I want to read when I want to read it without flipping through crap.

Excuse me if I want control of MY media consumption. For all that matters I bookmark the sites I frequent anyway and can use the browser and be done.

So, is the iPad 2 they're selling the current iPad 2, or the current New iPad.

BTW, I'm SO GLAD I bought a refurbed iPad 2 after the new iPad came out, instead of spending $500 on a machine that got updated 6 months later, lol 😎

Goddamn you're shallow. Ok fine it sucks ass for you. You don't have a need for it. I understand, but for the hundreds of millions of users, it's a very viable form of social networking. I get that half of AT doesn't use Facebook or Twitter and abhor it, but for someone like me who went through college when FB just launched, yeah I made a roommate posting on Craigslist and the guy didn't have FB, most of us would be thinking that's probably a weirdo to live with.

Anyway, that's besides the point. Do you even understand how Flipboard works? It's a TWITTER READER. No it doesn't look like a Twitter timeline. You wouldn't even have known it was pulling from twitter. It pulls tweets from news sites and then formats the articles into a magazine style. In the end the appearance is just like Google Currents. Hell Currents is a copy. I'm not sure how Currents works, but Flipboard pulls from twitter, and that's just the back end. Sites like Engadget and Gizmodo publish to Twitter too. So Flipboard pulls those Twitter feeds and formats the articles into a magazine style.

Yes you have full control in what you read. Hell there's far more flexibility in Flipboard than Currents. Currents REQUIRES the site to co-operate with them. Flipboard can operate with any twitter feed. Certain sites are more Flipboard optimized than others.

This is just absolutely absurd and shows how biased you can be. Just because you have never recognized how awesome a 3rd party app like Flipboard is because you've never really used it (the phone version is a neutered version), doesn't mean you dismiss iDevices in general and then act like your Android Tablet is 100x better. I just don't get how you can act like Flipboard sucks ass but Google Currents is the shit when Currents is just a biteoff and has fewer sources, less updated articles, and less content in general. Not only that Currents sucks in updating in that it takes forever, and it's difficult to locate articles. You're better off using the trending feature than adding your own sources. It's just horrendous. It's a poor man's version of Flipboard. If Google Currents is so awesome, why do people with their iDevices stick to Flipboard? That's right. And why is it that people are anxiously waiting for Flipboard to arrive on Android tablets?

6 months = 9 months?

I love Peter Shiller, and the dichotomy he demonstrates while fawning over the iPad 4 and iPad Mini.

Shiller: Our 4th generation iPad has an A6X, which has double the CPU performance and double the GPU performance. We were already so far ahead of the competition, now I can't even see them in the rearview mirror. The display is the highest resolution tablet display on the market, with pixels so small you can't even see them. Amazing specs are amazing!

Shiller: Our iPad Mini is like a pencil and a pad of paper. Acronyms like CPU, GPU and PPI are for Android nerds.

Shiller (in April 2013): Introducing our new iPad Mini with an A6 processor, now with twice the CPU performance and twice the GPU performance. Amazing!

You sound like a hypocrite to me.

Also, I would not want to live with someone who judged me just because I have a near-empty FB profile because I value my privacy and don't trust Zuckerberg and his lock-in shenanigans, past FB security breaches, and past genius moves like FB Beacon.

Google+? Maybe.. jury is out.

Facebook? F*** Facebook. Zuckerberg himself thinks you're a dumb f***. "They 'trust me.' Dumb f***s." Literal quote by the CEO of FB. http://www.businessinsider.com/well...s-wont-help-facebooks-privacy-problems-2010-5

Is that real or are you paraphrasing?

How the f* do you say that at the same conference

Phil Schiller. If you are going to make fun of the guy, at least get his name right.

Somehow this seems appropriate:
http://xkcd.com/978/

Someone says something, someone can't believe it, and repeats it to someone else and around it goes....

.... and eventually it becomes truth.

(actually I didn't get to watch the live broadcast so it would be terrible if he really did say that)

Blah Blah Blah...are you done?

Thanks for the rant...

Who's anxiously waiting for flipboard. It actually works just fine on Android tablets. In fact I have it loaded on my TF700 but don't touch it. You'd have to sideload it or install from the amazon app store, but it works. The interface isn't that great because it's not made for landscape view.

I'm done anyway. You use what you want ok and complain when something doesn't work when it's fine. Ever think maybe it's the various carriers that add their own junk to the devices that causes certain problems? I'd bet that's the first problem. Google has very little real control over what comes loaded on a device that's sold through AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile or whatever else.

I don't get the love everyone has for clipboard. Based on the way some people here describe it I expected to be blown away but in my opinion out doesn't come anywhere close to living up to the hype.

You sound as dumb as those people that say Android is a beta product. Come on man we both know your better than that.
3 months might be a stretch, but you're kidding yourself if you think every new major release from Apple doesn't come with a few strings attached for early adopters. Here's a 170 page thread on Apple's iPhone 5 aluminum body issues: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1445493

Over 2100 votes, and 35% have cosmetic defects out of the box. Yikes.

I just noticed on the spec page both the new iPad and the iPad mini now has 1.2 MP HD front camera. About freaking time! It's very welcomed and much needed upgrade. The back camera isn't as important to us but we use the front camera all the time for FaceTime. I think I might have to get the Mrs. iPad 4 for Christmas.
