What's the actual resolution on it?

Any decent PC or Mac display is better than HD, so that's not saying much.

Ditto.

The screen looks FVCKING HUGE.

I saw it at the new Apple store in London. VERY big store and that screen is HUGE. I saw two side by side lol. MASSIVE.

Man WHY did it have to come out after I bought my 23?! But I guess I have gotten my money's worth out of this 23" even though I paid £2k for it at the time. Now it is about £1600 or so. My only saving grace that I'd have to get a new graphics card to just run it. Oh well I'll probably never buy it now as I'm finishing my CS degree and 1920x1200 is enough (...yeah right :p) and the 30" would be over kill since I won't be doing as much work on my computer once I get a job next year.

Also to note movies will look poor on it due to the massive resolution 2560x1600! Well unless you sit far from it.

Pioneer plasma come to me!

no its dual link DVI and it only requires 1 dual link DVI port to run

and

IBM T221 > >>>>>>> Apple 30in

Except for things like response time, brightness, contrast, size, and price.

Yup and Anubis Dual Link DVI was cleared up by Mik3y. I expect a Lifer to read every response in the thread before posting :p

I was actually going to see if you were b!tching about the lack of accurate reds on the LCD :p

no apple can do reds right, and for 3000$ they should, its the sub 1000$ LCDs that have issues with it, however they are getting better

Apex ive seen both, IMO the IBM is better

Better doesn't tell the entire story though... better how? :)

Response time on the IBM is around 60ms, so gaming is way poorer. The brightness is lower. The contrast is noticably less, and the black levels are elevated.

Yes, the IBM definitely does have its advantages, but it has its disadvantages as well.

its 50ms isnt it, anyway its smoother, for just about everything, because its pixel density is 2.25x that of the apples, its resolution is bigger, + for things that need huge resolutions

yea i wouldent recomend watching movies on it but for rendering CAD and sceintific stuff its amazing

also a 30 LCD is about as hard to fit places as a 22in CRT, its just god damn huge

Yeah, 50ms is the rated total average response time, though from the time I've spent with it, it seems functionally closer to the 60ms panels, real world. Truly beautiful panel for the right application though.

its what i meant:p theres a good bit on it here. http://www.tomshardware.com/graphic/20041129/index.html

as for the ibm, i think not. it has a higher res yes, but response time? and cost? 9000 bucks!! and size:p that takes away from the real world usability of it.

no defence needed, you go find me a graphics card that can
1) power that monitor - needs dual link DVI
and
2) push any game at 2560x1600

if you didnt need dual link DVI to run it the 6800 Ultra would have issues running a game at the resolution
