I would recommend it. If you're really unsure, try calling one (or an emergency room) and describing your symptoms and see what they suggest.

I hope you're feeling better soon. :)

Does it hurt at all to fully stand up straight?

My operation was a 1 or 2 hours, maybe less, I don't remember, that was a while ago. I took it easy for a good week after that. You won't get back to normal for quite some time.

Anything high in fiber, certain cereals, oatmeal, etc. A good salad might help too. One thing you might ask yourself is when your last movement was.

Stay away from cheeses for a while too. They can cause that problem.

Try one thing. Press your right side around the belt/belly line. If the area is very tender of very painful, you might want to get checked out before tomorrow. It's usually best to err on the side of caution.

That's a good sign, how about tenderness? If that checks out, start eating that high fiber stuff. :)

So far you've been lucky. In my case there were no symptoms...I woke up at 5am with the world's worst pain. Couldn't straighten up at all.. I was on the operating table by 7am. Look at the bright side...you'll have a neat scar you can show all your girl-friends.

Taken from here.

Dietary measures such as increasing fiber intake from whole-wheat grains, fresh fruits, vegetables and bran may help add bulk to the stool and promote normal bowel movements. Special efforts should be made to increase daily intake of fluids.

Regular exercise is also very important in establishing regular bowel movements. People who are confined to a wheelchair or bed should be taught to change position frequently and perform abdominal contraction exercises and leg raises. A physical therapist can recommend a program of exercises appropriate for your physical abilities.

Stool softners such as Docusate Sodium may be recommended to aid in the passage of soft, formed stools. Additionally, bulk laxatives such as Psyllium may be used to add fluid and bulk to the stool.

should i eat dinner? or not?
Of course you should. Just make sure it's a balanced meal. :)
