We will be moving into a new building in March and apparently the folks who were there before us struck a deal with an ISP to host equipment in their datacenter. In return, the company could tap directly into the connection. :Q

is it like a pipe big enough fit your whole body down and go internet surfing fo real?

It's an Optical Carrier/STS level 3 communications circuit. It's carried on fiber is is 155 Mbs. Think of it as a tube that is bigger than broadband.

If my math is correct, an OC-12 connection has a transmission/transfer rate equal to the fastest SATA hard drives (about 80 MB/s). So anything beyond OC-12 will be "faster" than your HDD.

companies that can affort OC-12 can also afford much faster storage like SAN
