Apparently Lite-On fixed the 24x burner...

I notied that the trays on most liteon's had a distinct "ugly" sound to them. I know some liteon's had trouble with the identification in different CD burning software until you flashed the drive.

However, they have their drives priced very attractively.
 
The tray sounds like it loses power once it's half way opened...

But it burns the way I want it to and I can't complain so 🙂
 
My Lite-on works perfect.

I flashed my firmware with the one that was pulled from their site.. :Q

But i haven't had any problems with it at all.

 
Mine sucks. I need to RMA it. Doesn't recognize any form of CD-RWs, nor does it recognize previously written CD-Rs.
 
The tray on my 24X sounds a little funky, but the think works great. It seems to slow down a little bit after ejecting half way, but it does finish ejecting, and it burns well. Good enough for $55 (that was another deal - still going on - check hot deals). 🙂

Their site has always been slow, but not down, and it has been down now for like 2 days... wonder what's going on 🙁
