SSP,

If they come to Canada again and do what they've down, they will be criminally charged and probably prosecuted to the fullest extent just to be made an example of. It is because of them, that homosexuality is now considered a class of people who are protected by hate laws in Canada so their dumb demonstrations actually helped out gay people.

GL, your comment about his efforts actually helping the people he claims to hate hasn't gone unnoticed by the people who have to deal with him on a regular basis. His actions have created a very strong pro homosexual attitide in Topeka. It is ironic and would even be comical if his demonstrations and antics hadn't caused lots of people mental grief.

Off the top of my head:

His picketers have sent several people to the hospital after beating them with their wooden signs. They have closed business because Topekans would avoid him and not go to places he frequented.

I could go on and on about the things they have done that are just mind boggling.

I digress. North eastern Kansans are accustomed to the phelps. So much so he hardly makes the news anymore. However, I am always saddened to find out that they have ventured beyond their normal stomping grounds.

Many people, I think correctly, speculate that men like Phelps would find a reason to hate if we were all carbon copies, and go on to say that God hates hate. But I think that's just the point. God does not hate hate because that is just another disguise for the same disease. The problem, as I see it, is that it is so difficult to eradicate ones own hate that we excuse it as an inevitability.
