No one is asking for a 100% foolproof method, just any method that doesn't allow a cop to execute someone and then be cleared of wrongdoing before the body is cold.

The real outrage about that article isn't so much that the shootings happened...like you say, there will always be a nutjob or moron every so often...it's that the Chicago PD appeared to clear those officers of any wrongdoing as a matter of course, despite all available evidence pointing toward their guilt, and refusing to reopen the case under any circumstances.

Nutjobs are one thing, systematic corruption is another.

And believe me, I know from systematic corruption...

Extremely valid points, I completely agree. Agentbolt has a history of cop-bashing though so I just wanted to set him straight that he was blowing it out of proportion (pretty much par for the course) making it sound like cops were roaming the streets off-ing people at every corner every night.

There is no doubt that the system there is horribly flawed and needs to change.

that "10, 20" number was clearly not researched, I was trying to make a point. If you'd paid attention to the BODY of my post instead of predictably picking out the one shaky point in it, you'd see we actually agree: ANY unjustified shooting is unacceptable and the police departments responsible for their officers should be making an effort to stop them.

As for me cop-bashing, I can't disagree with that, but that's exactly what should have people concerned, is folks like me starting to hate on cops. I'm not a hippie or anti-establishment anarchist. It seems like a week can't go by without someone posting a story about cops doing something absolutely horrible. My ideal scenario is not one where normal, average people like myself distrust and dislike the police. The police force in America in general needs a major image overhaul and an excellent start would be to not go around saying shit like "Once a shooting case is closed, we won't open it back up even if we later find out it was basically cold-blooded murder"

But yeah, nice job pointing out where I said Chi-Town cops roll around popping people on every corner for kicks. Oh wait, I didn't say that. It must be a fun place, your imagination. All kinds of interesting stuff happening in there.

Which is it? Were you wrong and over-exaggerating or weren't you, you can't admit to being "shaky" (really what you did is down right purposefully made up a number to make things look worse) then chide me for saying what you were implying.

Don't deny you were implying that TONS of Chicago cops are MURDERING (implies dying just in case you didn't know) people ALL OVER THE PLACE!!! OMGWTFBBQ!!! When really it's not all that. Yes the system is still bad but you intentionally tried to make it sound worse to suit your own purpose.

If you really think that "normal, average people" are like you then you are on crack and SHOULD fear the police (although they did just ease up the laws on crack so maybe you will be ok).

"It seems like a week can't go by without someone posting a story about cops doing something absolutely horrible."

It also seems an HOUR can't go by without a normal person doing something horrible. Should I look at all murderer's professions and generalize each of those as needing a "major image overhaul." Are all emo kids going to shoot up a school eventually? I mean, seriously you are just ridiculous in your generalizations about cops. Has a cop ever shot you, what's the story behind this beef you have?

When was the last time a school shooting was covered up?

Dude, you're hopeless. If you can't see the difference between a cop murdering someone, and Joe Six pack murdering someone, you're even dumber than I thought.

You feel free to assume that I'm furiously attempting to bring down the criminal justice system through the calculated use of hazy figures. I'm going to go ahead and safely keep assuming you're a reactionary jerk who thinks any disagreement with him automatically equates to paranoid conspiracy theory, that women are property, and that any criticism of the current system in place for the hiring and development of policemen = OMG YOU HATE COPS WHICH ONE SHOT YOUR PARENTS LOL. Seriously, you're a real winner buddy. I'm done arguing with you on this one.

I read the article and kept looking for "Better Nate than lever" but could not find it.

Mayor Daley is often referred to as King Daley.

In terms of power, you have the mayor of New York city, the mayor of Chicago, then the President of the United States.

LOL I am not the one with the agenda here, you are the one who overreacted and exaggerated numbers (you admitted it, too).

Answer is coming to your L&R post when I have more time, short version is that women aren't property.

What is the difference between generalizing all cops based on the actions of a few bad cops and generalizing the entire public based on the actions of a few members of the public? Please, enlighten me.

I just can't understand how you can hoenstly believe that most normal people don't trust cops. Obviously the review system in Chicago (and probably other places) is flawed, we all agree on that. However to say that the common sentiment about cops in the US is negative is dead wrong.

Once again you overreact, I never asked if cops shot your parents, I asked if a cop shot you. Obviously you are scared of them I just wondered if you had a legitimate reason.
