I don't want to check daily, I just want an alert if my scheduled normal commute drive has a delay. Anything like this exist?
I guess I'm not clear. I don't want a pull application. I am not going to check traffic every single day. The one time a month there is an accident, I want something to just email or text me. I don't want to explicitly go check daily.
Google Now
Google Now does exactly what you're looking for.
Take it from me. Every. Single. Day. I'm reminded by Google about how much I hate the deathtrap that is Houston traffic.
Also if for whatever reason you don't want to enable/use Google Now, what you can do as a workaround is have a shortcut on your homescreen that will initiate directions to your home address. So, when you want to check traffic you just tap the shortcut and it'll load Google Maps with directions ready to go and you can see how long the commute would be.
It shows up in your notification tray just like a text or email, except it's updated more frequently.I DONT want to have to CHECK Google Now.
I want it to TEXT or EMAIL me if there is a delay.

The annoying problem I have with Google Now is it tries to be too smart and only show the traffic alerts when it learned what time I go to and leave work. And that was great, until I changed schedules. And after 8 months it's still showing traffic reports during my old schedule and I don't know how to fix that. I can search for "traffic" in Google Now and get that card, but it's so annoying.
I used to use Google Now everyday, now it's dead to me.![]()
My Windows Nokia 1020 With 8.1 dos this automatically everyday without any input from me. Cortana comes up and tells me how long it'll take me to get to work or home. Also tells me for my frequent trips to the airports based on flight information it captures from my emails. Pretty sweet features!
This thread reminded me to turn Google Now notifications back on after I'd silenced them due to spammed flood warnings.

Getting text/e-mail traffic alerts is what dumbphone users have to deal with. You have a smartphone, right?
I never check my notification tray, b/c its filled with useless shit.
Are you saying it will say "Traffic Jam" in my notification tray?
Once a week, I hit clear. I never read any of it.
