RiteAid selling it for 59.99 -40(RiteAid rebate) - 20$(Apollo Rebate)Rebate 20$ + Tax = Tax :). Also, RiteAid rebate is very easy to apply just enter some info from regester receipt and in 2-3 days you will see your rebate info online, no paper statements to submit and send.
This program named SingleCheck rebate.

Assuming the search function is working properly, the nearest RiteAid store(s) is down in KY. It sucks not having a Fry, Staples, or RiteAid located in the St. Louis area.

Well at least we got our share of dirty Kmarts with hiding employees.

I have heard the Apollo line is POS.

Anybody have any experience with them? Sometimes second hand info isn't very good if you know what I mean. ;)

Edit/ I think this just became roasting. Apollo has a $20 Mir rebate on their site. Text it is the first one under US.

Checked out a similar sale a while back. The first drawback: it comes with only the color cartridge, you'll need to buy the black one so add that to the total price. Second: they look really cheap, real eyesores. Third: because of drawbacks 1 & 2 I didn't buy one, so I can't comment on how they actually print.

I bought this printer and yes it is only came with one color cartridge but with Parall. Cable, so you do not need to buy one( at least 10$). Yes this priner is the worst one i ever used but the price is right :). At least it is working and printing.

I've got the Apollo 2600. These are HP's. Somewhere along their 640 line. They do their duty but you won't impress anyone. I do some envelopes with Clickstamp, only the large ones though. The best deal for impressive printing has to be the Epson 6 color photo printer at HSN for $65+-. Get one of each !

Are you sure that you canget both rebates on this?

The form says not valid with any other offer, and the Apollo website specifically mentions the Rite-Aid Rebate. (vs. all other retailers.)

picked up one of these tonight b/c my girlfriend was in desperate need of a printer. Unfortunately it rang up $89.99, but after $60 in rebates she figured it was still a good enough deal so we got it anyway - may try calling other rite aids to see if they have it at the $60 price. Anyways just warning you that YMMV with this deal. . .

You guys need to realize that most of the cost of operating an inkjet printer is in consumables (mainly ink cartridges).

Sure, getting a free printer is nice, but if you actually use the thing, 2 years from now, you'll realize you dumped a bunch of money into a POS Apollo printer. Yes, it's made by HP, but if it were any good, they would put their own label on it.

No, I don't personally own one, so I'm only going by what others have written.

Also, it's been documented that Apollo rebates take ages to fulfill.

I personally would go with a laser printer if you don't need color prints (higher up-front cost, but per page cost is lower than inkjet), or a mid-range inkjet for around $100ish.

The only situation where I'd recommend a deal like this (pay hard-earned money for a POS and wait eons for a rebate) is if you very rarely print anything, and don't plan on buying many carts, and just want a cheap-ass printer.

To follow up on manly's post, inkjets typically cost about $0.07 to $0.10/page for the ink, while a laser is in the $0.01 to $0.02/page for toner. Let's say there's a 8-cent difference in consumables per page. For every ream of paper that you use (and I go through a ream=500 pages pretty quickly), that's a $40 price differential. That price differential will obviously pay for a laser printer pretty quickly, and the laser is faster and higher quality to boot.

I've used these printers for my children, which is fine. but I dont want one for myself. The print quality is awful. But they work fine. When mine run out of ink, I throw them away. Not worth refilling.

Aren't these costs based on the manufacturers' price for replacement ink? There are much cheaper alternatives to these official ink sources, as you know. Why don't you indicate how much a replacement drum kit costs for a laser printer?

A question regarding this printer: You cannot print text until you buy a black ink cartridge separately?

I bought this printer and was using it without B/W cartidge, and it was printing text just fine, also it is a good point about 20$ rebate(there is a possibility it will not be aproved), but i sugest to send this rebate after RiteAid Rebate programm expire( after 3/08/02).

If you send in a RiteAid receipt, with a rebate form that's not a RiteAid rebate form, you will receive a post card telling you rebate request was rejected because you did not used the RiteAid rebate. Apollo changed the way they process rebate because, found out people were sending more than one rebate forms.
BTY, the Apollo printers are the bigger POS on the market.
If you want a cheat printer, wait until Feb.17, when the president's day sales starts.
