I might grant you that... the chase scene is kinda long.
/ {no} dialogue whatsoever.
You mean like the heady dialogue in a Jerry Bruckheimer or Michael Bay film?

Or like the thought-provoking, emotion laden verbal interplay in a gem like "Snakes on a Plane"?

Oh yeah! That's what this film is missing: Samuel L. Jackson shouting "Get these m*otherf*cking snakes outta my m*therf*cking jungle".

No wait. What this movie really needs is a cameo by ole Mel hisself screaming "Get those m*therf*cking j*ws out of my m*otherf*cking movie".

I did not enjoy this movie, for the time and money Mr. Gibson spent on it, it really is disapointing. Dodgy camera work and the actors over dramatizied movements in certain areas.. Also the dialouge was too polished for subtitles, I can't imagine what was actully said matching with what you read. As far as the action sequences and sights they were great but its like the movie couldnt make up its mind what it should be about till near the end which was at best substandard. Don't let the flash and naked mayans fool you, I recommend waiting till DVD. I'm in no way against any of Mel's work due to his personal life.

I think Gibson is talented. Heck, some heads of the Jewish community forgave him when he made his apology statement. Why can't some of you?

It's too easy to keep making fun of him.

It's so much fun to keep making fun of him. And you know what, he deserves it.

I've heard mixed things. After the snoozefest that was Passions I'll probably wait until DVD for this one.

Hmm, should I support a Jew hating Nazi, or go watch a movie about a diamond that cost many Africans their lives. OH NOES THE HORROR!!!!!1one
Basically what it boils down to is, the people that don't want to see it because of Mel Gibson are just as biggoted and racist as his remarks he made while drunk, thus anything could have spouted out of his mouth and maybe not have meant anything. Where as you are conciously making the decision to be a bigot. Good job.

Whew... I sure am glad that anti-semite Mel Gibson's career is over!

The movie is partially intended as a political allegory about civilizations in decline. Said Gibson in September of 2006: "The precursors to a civilization that?s going under are the same, time and time again... What?s human sacrifice if not sending guys off to Iraq for no reason? " - Ripped from wiki

it was fairly decent.

Nothing amazing, nothing bad. I would agree with that "b-, b" rating.

I finally saw Apocalypto last weekend - very impressive. Mel Gibson clearly has some issues as a human being, but he is a great talent and this is a brilliant film and an impressive accomplishment IMO. I am at a loss to understand how anyone who likes movies at all wouldn't have enjoyed it. God knows how tough it must have been to shoot in the middle of the Mexican jungle.

The Mayans use of the "F word" was far fetched IMHO and kind of took the realism out of the movie.

I wouldn't put him in Scorcese's or Speilberg's class yet but, damn, his first two flicks are absolutely awesome. Compare them to the first two (or even three or four) efforts by Scorcese and Speilberg and ya gotta stop and wonder. And he's doing this with his own dough - whoa.

If he were in Spielberg's class, he'd be replacing the weapons with walkie-talkies...

thats the senile old spielberg. the younger one that was not insane was great.

I don't get it. Did Speilberg use walkie talkies as weapons in a movie?

I saw it right before Christmas. Mel has a fetish for blood IMO. He must be nutz. Nonetheless, it was very entertaining, a 2-hour chase scene. Very intense.
