Not exactly. If your HDTV has a deinterlacer (and they all do) then you'll get a progressive picture even with an interlaced DVD player. However, the deinterlacers in HDTVs usually don't support 3:2 pulldown -- thus a good progressive scan DVD player would usually yield superior playback. And even if the HDTV's deinterlacer does support 3:2 pulldown it'll still require an extra A->D, D->A cycle to do so -- and thus the progressive scan DVD player will still be a bit better.
That's assuming a good prog-scan DVD player, of course. I don't think anyone yet knows whether the AD-2600's progressive scan support is "good".
