can this dvd be modified to play other regions like some of the other apex players? Not interested in macrovision removal or anything like that...just want to get a friend a player so he can watch some region 3 dvds.
 
Not bad, even though progressive scan is next to useless for most of us.

I have the 1500 .. this unit works great .. not sure if the region free thingy is available for that model to.
