I had a delayed pickup at my local Circuit City store for an order of a AD-1500. Went to get it and they said that the AS-1500 had been recalled for quality problems and that it had been replace with the AD-1200 model. The 1200 has fewer options.. as listed on the APEX website. I was not happy and did not purchase the unit. I am really not happy with a store that sells one model and then replaces that model with one of lower functionallity after the purchase!!!!!!! Has anyone had any quality problems with this AD-1500??? I think the unit was recalled because of the hack that allows it to play all market DVDs... Anyone have info about this? Thanks
I just bought an Apex (i think it's the 1100w) at my local Walmarts. It' silver in color and even plays jpeg picture files. It was $73.xx plus tax. It's been working fine. Does anyone know which Apex model plays DVD audio discs? And where to purchase for the best price?
Have been using the 1100w APEX DVD player purchased from Walmart and am really enjoying it. Anyone know if it can be made region free or disable macrovision.
IW - I would edit that post before the mods do it for you as it is in violation of the Digitlal millenium Act!
Sawadee - The 1500 has not been recalled but it is being replaced by the 1200. The 1500 does/did have 1 common problem though It was that the drive would not open after transportation sometimes but this was fixed easily but flipping down the cover and pushing the drive tray back till it make a lock sound! The 1500 is much nicer than the 1200 though as the 1500 has an lcd and dosent look as dull as the 1200. Also the 1200 can be made region free only while the 1500 can also disable macrovision and the digital macrovision (it is 4 letters but i cannot remember what they are)
sanjayraj & taserT - No the 1100w is not hackable, at least not yet!
i was wondering, too, if there's a way to disable the macrovision. I don't care much about it being region-free, but i would like to be able to put some of my dvds onto vhs tape!
The drive on my 1500 is a little noisy, and I'm not likely to confuse its output with that of my pioneer, but it took very smoothly to both of the desired modifications mentioned above. Just Dowload, burn the cd, turn the machine on, and it's done.
