Many TV's today are disposables.
Just like BIC lighters.
These Apex TV's are that type.

A MUCH better set, built to last years and years, is the Sharp 27" Stereo TV CC has for $229, everyday.
I'm sure you could find the Sharp on sale for less if you looked.

BTW, that $199 Apex is NOT stereo...

Correct, the Apex is not stereo.

Also $199 at American TV for those who have them around.

I found the Daewoo at walmart to be the cheapest stereo 27" at "everyday" prices ($199).

I haven't really heard of Sharp being non-disposable...

This may or may not matter to some, but just a quick word of caution. Many cable providers use Scientific Atlanta or Pioneer universal remotes, if you have a digital cable box. These remotes have no code for APEX brand products (of any kind that I'm aware of). I work in customer service for a large cable company, and some of you are probly saying "Big deal, I'll just use the remote that it came with", but you would be surprised at how many people very literally demand that we send someone out to add the codes to their remote.

Just another excellent example of Artificial Intelligence and Natural Stupidity.

I bought one of these suckers to keep my tv viewing occupied until those nice plasma screens go down in price.

I ran into the problem of no codes being available for my Apex on the Tivo - luckily, the Toshiba tv that I had connected to the Tivo previously uses the SAME codes as the Apex.

So, no brainstorming trying to make up codes... :)

That's funny, any Sharp product that has been owned by any of my family or friends has died a quick and painful death! That includes a DVD player that just made it past the warranty :Q

<--- Really likes Sony despite bad experiences with Sony service turn-around times and a dead XBR series TV :|

That's really bad luck. I have a Sharp TV for 10 years that's still working. The Sharp 27" TV in my bed room is about 6 years old. One Sharp VCR is 7 years, and another 4 years old. Even my Sharp Video Cam is 6 years old.
