Is this one better than the Advent at Best Buy? I got the Advent, and I have been very happy with it, but I would like more component inputs.... :D

Anybody try them both?

I bought this TV from CC a month ago. THIS TV IS NOT FLAT!!! The design mimics the Sony Wega so it blinds you to think it is flat. The screen is convex. At $85 it's a great price on a 20" television with a/v inputs, but it is not at all flat.

Apex makes more than one 20" model of television. They make both flat and non-flat screens. J&R has the non-flat version for $149, while the flat screen was being sold several months back for $199 at other retailers.

the model number is something like 2T00SJ
and homes needs to get the names of those people that wouldn't help him -- then when used in a polite letter, it affects a situation that they can DO SOMETHING ABOUT, rather than being seen as a random complaint... good luck!

I live just outside of Des Moines and was wondering which location you went to. I will only go to the Windor Heights one and only between 3 and 4 am. Thats when I bought my tv. Probably good that happened to you and not me cause the old-fat-wanna-be-rent-a-cop security guards would have probably had to escort me out of the store to shut me up. I would consider that a personal insult. I can picture those grease balls in line too...haha state fair people...its so true

Take it back, Take it all back. You don't wanna live here trust me. Once I finish school I'm outty.

Whoever said the Sony WEGA isn't flat - join Columbus on his quest for the new world pal... I have a 36" WEGA and it's as flat as a grade A piece of lumber. As for the Apex TV, $179 here in St. Charles IL..

Yesterday, I went to the Super Walmart on Highway 63 in Rochester, Minnesota. They had the tv for $135. I got dumb stares when I enquired about the $85 price.

Today, I went to the Walmart in La Crosse-Onalaska, Wisconsin. They had the tv for $83! :D I asked why the difference from the Rochester store? They said, and I cannot remember the words exactly, that their store did not forward clearance items, so they had to liquidate them.

There were 6 in the store when I left at 5:00pm and no one was interested in buying them.

He didn't say the sony wasn't flat, he said that the apex which is designed to look like a sony isn't flat.

Wega = Flat

Apex = Non-Flat

However, apex also does make a truely flat model, which is the one in this thread. If you go to JandR, they have the sony lookalike, which isn't flat, for 149.

I have this APEX tv model number GT2011J and it looks flat. How do I tell that it isn't flat. If it isn't then they are they lied because on the box it says "Pure Flat 20" TV"

Carefully place something edged on the screen (like a ruler). Make sure to be careful, because moving it may scratch the screen.
If it's true flat, there won't be any gap under any of the ruler if you place it from the corner to the center. Non-flat screens will give you a noticible gap under the ruler at one end or the other.

Completely defective screens will give you a gap in the middle of the ruler. :p

Not to here to get flamed, but the Apex at Walmart is flat. I've looked at both models, the Apex at CC and J&R in Manhattan are not flat. They are look alikes. The 20 inch non-flat has two versions, the J&R one is stereo and has a S-Video connection while the CC version is mono and lacks the s-video, hence the CC one is cheaper. The one from Walmart though has stereo, a s-video connector, and IS flat. The only other difference between the flat and non-flat versions aside from the screens is the layout of the speakers, the non-flats have them on the sides of the screen whereas the flat version has them below of the screen.

I'm wondering if the $85 are last years model. I checked a couple of Nashville Walmarts today when out running errands, and they had GT2011Js. They were $178, and one of the Walmart people told me they had just gotten this particular model in.

Anybody that got one for $85 have the model number?
