What is the best technology for CRT monitors?
I'm located in Brazil, and I have 3 options for 17inch Flat CRT...
- Sony Trinitron Multiscan E200
- LG Flatron 795FT plus
- Samsung Dynaflat 700 IFT

Which this is the best for Graphics, Games and Text?
I'm very sad, because, here doesn't have Viewsonic, Hitachi, Mitsubishi, NEC, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Nokia, etc... for me compare and buy one these.

Thanks guys

no, Trinitron is old stuff, you should get new FD Trinitron (E200 is FD Trinitron).
You could also consider NF Diamondtron which is similar to FD Trinitron - both are aperture grille type.

new FD Trinitron/NF Diamondtron has tighter pitch and is flatter than old Trinitron/Diamondtron.

and don't forget to consider the new flat shadow mask type too.

Hi King!

between LG's Flatron 795+(Slot Mask, isn't it?) and Sony's FD Trinitron E200, which these you recomend me to buy one?
I know Sony made high quality products, but is LG reliable?

Thanks for the answers

Sony's quality is not so great now, and don't forget Japanese always keep the best stuff for their own people. All the Japanese electronics you can buy outside of Japan are 2nd grade or outdated model.

For the price of entry model Sony stuff, you can almost buy other Japanese brands' mid-level model.

For most products, Sony's warranty is shorter than other brands. For example, Sony LCD monitor backlight only has 1 yr vs other brands all have 3 yrs.

The E200 should be taken off the consideration.

LG and Samsung both are Korean Companies, Korean's electronics quality is as good as Japanese now. They're even a dominant ram producers now.

I'd choose either LG 795FT+ or Samsung 700IFT (depends on the price and budget) over Sony E200.
If you search "flatron" and "700IFT" in the video forum, you should see many threads about them.

If you can, go to see the real thing first before purchase.

Hi King!
I appreciate your hint.
I'll go to some store to compare the prices and probably I'll buy a Flatron.

Thanks so much

Kingofcomputer,

Every nation sells its best products overseas and keeps its worst products for itself, weapons being the exception. And the Japanese products I've seen that weren't exported were of low quality and not competitive on the world market, at least not at their high prices.

It's true that Sony reliability is probably no better than Samsung's, but both companies' consumer products are of only average reliability, although I'd take a Sony picture tube over a Samsung tube any day, not because the apeture grill but because Sony tubes, like all Japanese tubes, last a long time.

The best monitor picture I ever saw was from a shadow mask tube, an ancient Zenith with a tube that was actually slightly concave. The reason it gave such a good picture was because the shadow mask was stretched to prevent it warpage from electron beam heat, and this allowed the beam current to be driven much higher than usual and made the contrast so high that the screen looked like a printed page. Unfortunately those tubes were expensive, and the monitors were unreliable and consumed 300 watts (they contained a fan).

NO!!! Japanese keep the best and newest products for themselves - electronics, cars, anime - sell the 2nd best and older to other countries.
If you don't believe, ask any asian here.
