APC UPS BK300C at Staples B&M for $17.50

OK, my head hurts from reading all of the cheap UPS posts at staples. As my mind clears, I don't think this one has been covered yet!

staples has the APC BK300C on clearance for $17.50. It's 300VA and only has 2 outlets, as well as the modem surge protection. So this one basically is not as good as deal as that "other" one for $7.50. But for $10.00 more, you're still getting a good UPS. Frankly I like the way this one looks. This one looks like a mini-tower computer, vs. the "other" one that looks like a giant surge protector (with me, it's all about looks!).

From the receipt:

APC BACK-UPS 300VA
731304009818 $17.50

No sign of a SKU, so I assume the above number is the UPC.

I came across this one while looking for the $7.50 UPS. While at the Duarte, CA store, two of the employees (one apparently the manager) asked how I knew about the SKU's. She said some other guy (who I am sure will end up reading this) had been in a few weeks ago with a list of SKU's as well. I informed her that I found out about it on the internet. She said "Well, that's confidental information and shouldn't be put out for the general public to view." She was slightly irritated, not a raging beyach like she probably could have been, based on her short, portly appearance. I politely responded, "Oh, but this information wasn't posted by an employee or anything. People just find the good deals in the store and post the information from their receipt." She kind of shrugged and went back to her duties. Gee, if they put it on the receipt, they must *really* want to keep it a secret! Shhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! 😉

Anyways, good hunting!

Great deal but keep in mind that you need a "special" serial cable in order to get this unit to shut down your PC in case of a power failure. That little baby will set you back about $29, if you can find it. A regular serial cable WILL NOT WORK. It also will only run your system for a very short time. With my 19 inch monitor it only lasts about 2 minutes or so. That being said, I got two of these for about $24.99 each from Staples on a similar sale a while back. They work just fine. BTW, if you post a little "B&M" to APC on their support site, they have been known to send you the cable for free. Not that I would ever indulge in that kind of behavior (twice) mind you. 😱

<< "Well, that's confidental information and shouldn't be put out for the general public to view." >>

guess Staples needs to shut their website down as well...SKU-filled it is...😉 ..thanks jonnashville..did not know there's a cable in the box(have not even opened it yet..)..actually have not even looked at the box (BE500)since I got it

<< Check the box... the cable might be included. I got one with my APC BE500 >>

Nope! As I said, I bought two of these before. They are the "lower end" of the APC's line. No cable is included, but as I said, you might try a little complaining to APC on their Support site and get them to send you one. I "heard" of someone getting two that way (one at a time of course). 😉
