APC BT1500BU UPS with extra battery sidecar - $120 + shipping - Outpost

Found this peach this morning. This is a damn nice "pro-sumer"* UPS setup.

$120 + $8 shipping

Manufacturers page
http://www.apc.com/resource/in...ku=BT1500BP&tab=models

Very good price with the extra battery pack. 2 year warranty also.

This biatch is big though so be aware of that

15x7x13 and 60lbs.

I currently have 4 of these units without the sidecar battery pack and, like all of APC's heavier backups, they do an excellent job.

* I call this pro-sumer as it much more heavily built than their cheap $50 units, has a fan to allow for extended use, but does not put out a true sinewave.

Wow, that would run my rig fine. i am replacing my 2900p with a 3870x2. 2900xt + 3870x2 - for a X3 solution
Shipping isn't bad $12 or $15 ... the extra battery is a real plus

i am probably going to buy it ... looks like a good deal. My old UPS chokes even if i shutdown on idle. 😛

Does this definitely have the second battery ? These retail for much more than this. Most searches show the model BT1500 as the single battery and the HT1500 as the dual. battery. The picture on Fry's show two batteries but the model is BT1500.

Either way I bought one, even if it is the single battery, the deal is worth it.

So here are some additional notes.

- Yes, it is definitely the 2 battery model. This has been doubly verified by the shipping weights of the units I ordered that are on the way. They are 59 lbs per shipment.

Per the manufacturers page for the 2 battery model:
Net Weight 58.50 lbs. (26.59 kg)
Shipping Weight 60.00 lbs. (27.27 kg)

- The BP is the actual designation for, you guessed it, Battery Pack.

This thing will run a normal computer setup for a long, long time. The regular RS1500's I have without the extra battery run my Dual Core with 4 HD's, 22" Monitor and DSL Modem for well over an hour during the spring when our power goes out seemingly once a week.

The only downfall with a unit this large, besides the physical dimensions, is the hit you take when it comes time to rebattery the unit. It is painful indeed.

what do you mean ... it is actually in my cart

and i will have HD2900xt + HD3870x2 ... they draw over 600w 😛
-850 w is just "getting by" ... no O/Cs on the GPUs although i hope to keep my CPU O/C

i wobbled ... looked at my CC's balance .. and then i caved in like a wet house of cards at the surf edge .. it is a great deal ... $141 shipped via Airborne ground .. 2nd day wouldn't get here till next week anyway

Price went up to $199. Now I'm wondering if this is in fact the dual battery version. I sure as heck hope so because I ordered one as well as my brother and my Mom. Let's just keep our fingers crossed!

Thanks for the link, Tomer!

Shipping on mine was $8 to Alabama. Indeed mine also shows a shipping weight of 60lbs, wow that really makes this one h3ll of a deal !! It shows to be here Tuesday, I will report back on how it looks.

I know the APC RS1500 beside me right has a battery on the lower portion, this only takes up maybe 1/3 of the battery backup. So the additional battery on this one we just ordered, is that all battery or only partial. I am just trying to figure if this guy runs twice as long as a 1500, or even longer.

i just noticed

Batteries and runtime:

# Battery type: maintenance-free sealed Lead-Acid battery with suspended electrolyte
# Included battery modules: (1)
# Typical recharge time: 8 hours
# Replacement battery cartridge: RBC33
# RBC quantity: (1)
# Typical backup time at half load w/ 1 additional battery: 37.9 minutes (432.5W)
# Typical backup time at full load w/ 1 additional battery: 16.1 minutes (865W)

# Regulatory Approvals cUL Listed,FCC Part 15 Class B,FCC Part 68,UL 1449,UL 1778,UL Listed
# Standard Warranty 2 years repair or replace
# Equipment protection policy Lifetime : $150000

You can put the batteries together for double the run time, evidently [right?]

this is for one battery

Typical Backup Time at Half Load
--15.4 minutes (432.5 Watts)

Typical Backup Time at Full Load
--5.1 minutes (865 Watts)

i see it is $200 and probably still worth it but not the awesome deal it was last night. Thanks OP!
.. it was exactly what i needed .. actually better - for less!

So I see this disgruntled looking DHL guy drive up today and unload these big bastards. 180lbs of BBU's.

Here is how they look in the packaging. ($1 bill included for scale)

And here after unpacked.

These are some big, heavy SOB's.

A few points of interest.

- APC's better UPS's are actually tested by a human and have an included test sheet. The test sheets on all my units are dated October of 2005.

- They look new. Was half-way expecting refurbs or customer returns for the price paid.

Can't wait to let them charge and see just how long they will run one of my computers.

October 2005 ?? I guess that is not a matter since you said they have a 2yr warranty. Mine shows delivered at 12pm but I am not home. I also see the price is back down on them at Fry's.

Price back to $119.99 and no 1 per limit either now, it appears.

And yes, Oct. 2005 is not ideal, but you are good to go for at least 2 years.

Same here.

I just warrantied a few of the ones at work, they were still under their 3 year warranty. Just an FYI unless it is DOA, APC will ship a new one no cost but you pay shipping back for your old one.

Also their software support sucks. BTW we are paying about $180 for the BR1500's stand up or laydown styles.

Just my expereinces with them.

FWIW I had one of my XS1500's (essentially a beige version of the left side of this current deal) die the other day. It was about 6 months old. I called and they shipped me a "new" one, sans battery. (Looked new, may have been a refurb tho).

They wanted me to ship the old one back, but since I only gave $49 for them new, I whined and cried like a 2 year old and they agreed to send a UPS pickup tag. They never did, so the defective one is still sitting here.

The fan is a bit noisy, but it only runs when the AC is out so who cares.
